Winter fishing on rainy

Have been fishing LOTW for many years now, but often wonder about fishing rainy lake. But there never seems to be any info on winter fishing. Is it because no one does it? Would be interested in knowing if there are plow roads out onto the lake, places to stay or any often info. Thanks.

National park service plows a road that goes pretty far to the east. Otherwise, rainy has a fraction of the resorts LOTW does. There’s a couple places that rent day houses.

i will confirm, I called up there and a road is available for wheel houses.    Never been there, think it works like LOW pay a daily fee.

I live in The Falls. I’ve only fished Rainy a couple times through the ice. I go to LOW to ice fish. That being said, I work with a few guys who put houses out. Birch Point/Sand Bay is where most of the houses go out. It’s usually a sunset bite. I’ve seen some FB posts with walleye, crappie, and big northern from people that snowmobile to different spots and have good luck. Lots of places where there’s thin ice from current though.
