With illegal taking of ciscoes for bait, including netting them in Quetico nd smuggling them across the border.

Well this has been eight years or so in the making. I believe that they started observing him in 2012 and finished collecting evidence in 2016. I assume that it will be another four years before there is a trial to determine if he was guilty or not. I don't know a ton about the case, but I do know that a lot of people are very passionate about it.

I thought that the Forest Service posted an open bidding process for the truck portage? Correct me if I am wrong about that but if it's true, why would they go through all of this trouble? They could just not offer the negotiated service contract up for bid, or just deny LaTourelle to winning bid.

Look at 4 mile portage. It did not close because no one bid on it.

I'm not doubting you Lucifer, as I have no personal/first-hand knowledge. However, I don't understand why they would charge someone just to close a portage. Why not just close the portage whether it's the Prairie Portage or 4 mile? Even if they convict the guy, someone else will just bid on the service. I'm probably missing something because I just don't see the connection.
