I've been in the area for a while but I haven't tried river fishing for walleye.  I think it would be a great time with my 12 year old. Just wondering on basically the best approach would be. Are there any decent spots where it's a little more private?  Thanks for any help.

Depends on what area you are referring to ? Most rivers are full of walleyes though.

Thinking around Rapids.  What kinds of tackle, bait and such. Crankbaits?

Any help with where to fish the Mississippi near Grand Rapids. Also what kind of set ups. Do crankbaits work?  Thank you

I've seen people catch them in the spring in front of the library. I could see them from where I used to sit and study. They were jig fishing. Walleyes, rivers and jigs all go hand in hand no mater the season

This time of year you will want to boat fish just below the papermill dam or above it between there and the Corps dam just upstream and upstream of that dam either way from Cohasset. Find the deeper holes near bends. Can use Lindy Rigs also.
