Good morning Mtnman.

Yes, the whole rainy lake watershed is under a flood warning. Water is as high as it was back in 2014. Forecast is that is should peak around May 20. All the ice went out last week with all the wind and rain we had. My dock didn’t make it though. Ice blew in and lift the whole thing, crib and all. Mother Nature…adds another project once the water is warm enough to work in. This week looks a little drier…I hope! Safe travels when you do head North.

So sorry, wish I could boat over to help. I think we will wait an extra week to head north.  Prayers for a good resolution.

I'm not getting any good reports on the lake conditions there. Friends on Ash River have water in their cabin. Hope all losses are at a minimum.🙏

I spent last week on Kabetogama and the conditions are hard to believe. Water keeps rising. The forecast was for another foot rise. We stay at Northern Lights Resort and they went over and above for the guests. Built bridges to the floating docks! Fishing was amazing! Hard to catch small enough fish to keep! People up there are battling to protect and save what they can. Resized_20220520_144430.thumb.jpeg.f0765fabd5bfde640950f6f01369b7e6.jpegResized_20220519_074728.thumb.jpeg.f10f416fb4593033c16f3266d9fae06a.jpegResized_20220519_170302.thumb.jpeg.83dfdb40c74844330c6c0d4cec2ac1cf.jpeg

Nice fish, but sad for the property owners.

Hello everyone,

Any current updates would be most appreciated. Our plans are to arrive Sept.1st, hoping there will be some favorable conditions in the area. Hoping all are well, as there have been no new post.,

This is the first time I have come across this forum.
Since the day I was born, I've visited Rainy Lake regularly. I've always loved fishing in the bays before July 4th and strive to get there on time or earlier so I can enjoy it. Due to the uncertain situation this year, we will be up by mid-July. Despite the fact that I am aware that is traditionally reef time, I have never had much luck. Find the reefs that rise up to 25–40 feet in height and are encircled by deep water, locals have advised in writing and in conversation. What are some good locations to visit in the middle of July? Despite being a rookie reefer, I will locate them on a map.

Thanks

You write  you're going to be there in mid-July .......and you posted this on August 3? Did you mean mid- August?

It's kind of a big lake. Do you fish the U.S side or the Canadian side? Narrow it down for us and someone might make some suggestions. Otherwise, just note where other boats are fishing. If it's a small reef, wait until they leave  and then give it a try. Be considerate. Don't crowd others.
