Just figured I’d see where everyone is planning on going Saturday.... I’m from faribault and kayak fish. I plan on hitting up a small quiet lake west of town. I haven’t been on the water yet but I’m guessing water temps are around 50 or just above. How about you??

Catch and release only opens Saturday with walleye and pike... Season for keeping opens 23rd.

I respectfully disagree. You can target smallmouth or largemouth during this catch and release period. This started a few years ago. Before you couldn’t target until the actual opener a couple weeks after the walleye opener.

And to your post, too cold for me. I’ll wait a week or so to get out. Good luck on Saturday.

I plan on hitting a large body of water that is shallow less than 16 feet for bass. Wacky rigs, rippin raps and some swim shads roughly 5-10 feet of water we will see with the cool temps they could have lock jaw but I'm with you djsnej123456 cant wait to go bass fishing.

Yah Mike, that changed for the rest of the state south of 200 a few years ago.  Still seems weird to us ol timers though.

I might try some on the river this weekend but more planning on shooting for Saturday.  Maybe Sunday.  Great time of year for X Raps and Shadow Raps.

Good luck all.

Yea Mrpike, after ice season I spend lots of time on getting gear ready, cleaning, oiling, and re lining reels. I will be throwing some lipless, spinner bait, dragging a wobble head jig, slow rolling a mid depth crank. We will see how it goes. I may even walk some areas of the straight river for some Smallies, weather pending. And Wanderer I like your baits of choice too, I just haven’t thrown jerkbaits enough to have confidence although they are amazing this time of year.

Not sure we will get out this first weekend, due to the expected crowds and cold temps.  If we do we will be focusing on the Lincoln Lakes/Cushing area lakes.  Kinda looking forward to fishing shallow bass.
