I realize Lake of the woods is definitely more of a day bite but am going up second week of March and will be sleeping in my pop up. Was thinking of fishing during the day in the 30 ft range where most others are and then moving up shallower on structure in hope of picking up a few overnight? Also could care less about number of fish, mainly looking for bigger mature fish as I don’t keep fish most of the time anyways. This will be my first time there so any help appreciated.

Talked to a professional walleye fisherman/guide recently about the shallow bit on LOW. He said if you are just going for the dawn/dusk bit set up in 16-20 feet for the longest bite window. He said he's caught them as shallow as 10-12 feet but the bite window is short. I don't know exactly what depth to set up for a full night but this will give you some info. Maybe someone who's done the shallow/deep house rental will chime in.

I know some of the top guides up there set-up in lighthouse gap and fish the 12'-17' depths at dawn and dusk to target big walleyes.
