Looking Ahead To May. N C O R Guide Service

Still some ice fishing being done but it is pretty much over for most of us.  Outfitters are getting off the ice or finishing up their schedules. I have been done for 3 weeks.

 

There will be a short blitz on the Rainy River then all focus will be on the opener and beyond.  It is funny, there is not a whole lot going on before Memorial Day. The opener can be busy if the weather is nice but after that a pretty quiet couple of weeks follow.  Fishing is really good in that 2 weeks and as I sit in the boat hauling in fish after fish of all sizes I keep thinking "how do you get people to come fishing before Memorial Day weekend"?

 

You never know how the weather will be opening day but if you can get on the water anywhere it will be really good.  After the big weekend fishing just keeps getting better and better.  Here is  a video I put together from a couple of days last spring.  The first day was I think opening day the second part is a week before the Holiday.  These trips are very much more the rule than the exception.
