how has the bite been up there this week?

Posted

Been up the last 2 weekends and fishing has been improving.  Did ok with Lindys with rainbows fishing edges of deep water where it comes up to 15-20 FOW. No wallhangers but a great shore lunch

Lost one and saw a couple more. muskies. should have brought light tackle.

I had 45°F on October 31.  I left my boat/motor in the water for another couple of weeks since the forcast looked very moderate.

Here is a little video my buddy put together of a walleye trip we took back in the middle of October. Enjoy!

I hear it is snowing pretty good in Cook.  I hope it melts soon!

You guys in the East getting it too?

Posted

The snow was coming down pretty good at times and the wind was blowing.  The floor of the boat was white,  We didn't make it out till 6:30ish and stayed to 9:15, caught 4 crappies and a nice bluegill for breakfast tomorrow,  Last time I was ice fishing I was sitting on the ice in a long sleeve shirt, tonight, I had my ice fishing outfit on-gotta love it!

Coming up this weekend with the fam.  Most likely I will have three kids in the boat at all times so I hoping to find and stay on the fish.  Any recent reports?  I heard from a neighbor that they jigged in 17-20 on opener and couldn't keep them off their lines.  Cliff also mentioned he was having luck deeper on rigs.  Any idea what this steady nice weather will do to the eyes for Saturday?

Go east, young man.

Neptune,

There is still a very good bite from the smaller eater sized walleyes on the east end.

Rigs or jigs in 22' to 33' depths. Minnows and leeches.

Thanks guys. I figured it might be that simple this weekend. I'm heading to the dock to try some shore fishing in a few minutes.

Best of luck to you Mark! I have always enjoyed reading your posts.

Mark,

Good luck in your new home!

I am sure you will find some lunkers to catch there too!

The lake is losing one of its best anglers and I hate to see Linda go. Mark was out there every day with her and must've picked something up, because he's pretty good at it, too. It's just like Mark to use his last (?) post giving us some good direction and an idea I hadn't thought of.  I know I'm a better fisherman because of him. I'm among many who will miss him here. Vermilion and the forum won't be the same.

Dick

p.s. I'm hoping I'm adding a photo of the fishing photo master at work.

I couldn't have lived up there year around.   I don't like winter all that much.    And my wife likes it even less.

Good luck in your new adventures.   I hope they aren't prompted by unfortunate circumstances.
