Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort 7/4/17

 

We hope everyone is having or has had a great holiday weekend and we wish you a happy fourth of July!

 

On the Minnesota side, the Walleyes are moving onto mid lake structure and mud flats. The bite has been in the 14 to 26 feet range for walleyes, sauger and perch. An 3/8 oz jig with a minnow or spinner with a crawler and bottom bouncer have been the way to go. Hot colors include orange, gold, pink and green. The water temp is 66 to 68 degrees.

 

On the other side of the border in Ontario we are looking for walleyes to start moving onto mid lake reefs and humps and the Musky are getting more active. The magic depths for walleye has been 14-30 feet, for perch 26-30 feet. Walleye, sauger and perch are found on reefs and humps. Musky are in the 5-10 foot range in weedy bays with red cabbage and smallmouth are still in the shallow rocks. 3/8 oz jigs, the best colors being orange, gold and pink for walleyes and saugers. Spinnerbaits, buck tails and top water baits all being good for muskies. The mayfly hatch is just about over!
