Fishing report 3-10 3-11

Fished Friday out of morris pt. the road was open to trucks to the pressure ridge so we ended up fishing in 20 to 17 ft all day. Very high winds and rain turning to sleet. Only kept 4 keeper walleye between the 2 of us all day. Saturday went with friend out of long pt.area.with his side by sides out about 6 miles to large pressure ridge.Fished in 37 ft of water  Saved the trip for us did real well finishing off our limits. We had a couple of 20 in. slot walleye. Saturday was warm and sunny. Plenty of  good ice with wheelers you can go anywhere!

Ray, We were out there as well.  Thursday on the drive up, we left later than normal, about 430pm, arrived 1030pm or so.  We drove through rain and sleet most the way up and we must have missed the freezing rain as there was indications that salt was applied to Hwy 72 north of Waskish on a way back Sunday.  

On Friday there were some small lakes nearly white capping on top of the ice from the melt and rain.  So sort of an interesting challenge getting out.  We fished on the edge of a reef and our bite as so-so, a lot of little ones.  It was beginning to freeze as the sun went down.  We were blasting through standing water with an half inch or so of ice.  We we were on a 4-wheeler and we were covered in a nice layer of ice from the tire spray and the high winds.  It must have been 35 to 45 mph winds out there.  Lucky the Clams survived.  We had a hell of time getting them folded down and packed up.  

On Saturday morning that half inch of top ice grew to 2 inches or so.  We saw a snowmobile stuck in 18 inches of water with the riders standing on the seat waiting for help from the other sleds there.  We were lucky that we put the ice chains on the wheeler as we busted through the top ice a couple of times.  The chains saved us.  We headed out and fished in the mud and had a better bite.  It was good, but not great.  No strong winds on Saturday and very little water left on the ice.  

I am thinking this was our last outing, but who knows what the conditions will be like in two weeks.

Fished last Tuesday out of Long Point was pretty much straight out 32 fow  no body close or fished that area. It was one of my better days of  fishing their , 20 25 fish  with 8 nice keepers 3 wall 18 two 17 s 5 saugs 15- 17in  in a matter of 4 hours only one on the deadstick all others were got jigging pink gold buck shot spoon and it seemed the more aggressive and work the bottom also 2 of 3 wall  were 10 -15 up and missed a 3rd.                                    Stay Safe Good Luck   Bear55

Hoey, we also drove up Thursday in rain though we got up there around 7:30. Saturday was brutal my brother fished outside with his back to the pickup. I was in my clam, wind shook it so hard felt like I was getting sea sick. Had to be sitting down all the time or it would blow away.Saturday was so much better I think the fish bit better for us before the sun came out around 11 or so but man that sun felt good! I'm thinking of one last trip up this weekend to cap off the ice season. Man it has been a good one.
