Winter smallies

Finally the weather and work gods aligned and I got out for some winter smallies,
not bad considering my last trip out for river smallies was in November!!

I will be out there today going to hit the Mississippi and maybe the Rum on the way back by my house if it is still clear.

I'm thinking the same thing!  When will I get another chance to target walleyes and bass with a long rod in February!

Well never made it to Monticello but did make it to the rum 2 smallies one 17inch and one 14 inch

One on float and fly black and blue jig other on a white berkley gulp jerk shad.

 

And you can target walleyes and smallies every winter with a long rod you just need to know where to go

I took my kids for a monticello outing yesterday, but my boy spiked a fever on the way so I had to abort mission. 

Tried a little shorefishing at home this afternoon in Brooklyn Park. I tried spoons, jerkbaits and ringworms. No action.
