Ice fishing has heated back up quickly with stable weather. The key depth's remain 24 - 31 ft and glow red, pink and gold.  A one-two punch of jigging with a rattle spoon tipped with a tail or head of a shiner and a deadstick with a plain hook has been most effective. Walleyes and saugers mix. Some big saugers and trophy walleyes being iced. 15-20" of ice on the lake. Some resorts are allowing 3/4 ton trucks with wheel houses. Day by day decisions for each resort.  Work through resorts as their ice roads are monitored. Know where you are going.  As always, safety first.

The Rainy River has been good for walleyes. More of a morning / evening bite.  Know the river or use a resort or guide for safety.   The snowmobile trail is staked from Wheeler's Point to Baudette on the river.  Do not deviate from trail unless you are familiar with ice conditions.

Up at the Northwest Angle fishing continues strong.  Reports of 16-18 inches of ice in areas traveled by resorts. The ice road from Young's Bay to resorts on Flag Island and Oak Island is open to vehicles.  The snowmobile trail from the south shore to the NW Angle is open and groomed.  Resorts are fishing in 19-28 feet of water with a nice walleye and sauger bite. Best colors include glow pink and gold.  Big crappies being caught in Ontario in 28+'.  Walleyes in Ontario 22'-28'. Work through resorts and stay on ice road.

Thanks for the report! I appreciate this type of info as I'm having a hard time focusing today at work with a trip up to LOTW coming bright and early Friday morning.

What a difference a day makes.  Fishing was very slow today.  Biggest I caught was only 13 inches.  Marked a lot of fish but couldn't get very many to bite.   The wind was very strong today and did cause a little bit of drifting, but travel is still good on the latke.  Just avoid the snow banks and drifts.  Saw one house get pulled off the lake, and didn't see any new houses come out before I left the lake at 4pm.  Lots of snowmobiles and trailers in Tower.  At least the city and lake will be busy with those.   Good luck fishing if you go out the last weekend of the winter season.

Ice condition didn't change much in the last week as shown in the McKinley Park photo from today.  The holes in my house froze all the way down in the last six days; 40 inches of ice now.  I drilled my two holes 24 inches and cleared the shavings out before reaching water.  Much cleaner way in a permanent house.   Fishing was pretty good today.  Caught two 24" walleyes, including the 5#-7oz fatty pictured.  Also caught a 19 incher.  Best bite was from 11 to noon.  Much better action with chubs than shiners today.  Never tried the pike suckers I had.   Good luck fishing the last weekend this winter.  Going to be very windy Friday, but drifting shouldn't b a problem since there is no loose snow on the lake.  Saturday and Sunday look to be very warm.  Still about 35 houses left out from McKinley Park.

Too bad she’s after big game when she leaves home.  Your one eyed trouser trout might not lure her in. 😉
