Got 13 walleyes on island lake ( north of Duluth ) Saturday, nothing over 14 inches. Got about 4 Sunday on island lake, same size. Extremely slow, normally where river runs in lots of action but not this year.

We got some steelhead , walleye, Northern and crappie.  I would call the weekend "fair ".   Everyone got some fish to take home for some eating. This 41" rather thick post spawn northern was the highlight.

Fished the St. Louis on Saturday, was on the water by 5:20 AM.  Caught a 8 decent (2-5 lb) walleyes and a few small ones.  Left by 9 because of other commitments.  Fishing slowed around 8:30 IMO.  Hit the steelhead rivers on Sunday, went 4 for 8 with a buddy on the upper shore.  Used crawlers on the river, didn't even open the minnows.  All fish were male, one with a purple tag.

I hit Rice lake. Water temps was 48 degrees and you know it was cold and windy.
Northerns were lite up but no gills, crappies, or eyes.  I think they all followed the leeches into the mud.

This weeks warm up should help out a lot.

sat I fished plastics and jigs from shore on the SLR. fishing was good until 9:30 am then boats started moving around in the area and my bite slowed.

Sunday was a good morning with lots of eyes caught on spinners and 3 way rigging small cranks. Windy shore lines and flats were key.

yesterday did a shore fishing expedition starting at the 23 bridge and working down to oliver. many eyes and crappies caught on jigs and plastics. Slow current made fishing from shore easy with a 1/8 oz jig. Northland Mimic minnows and gulp smelt did the best.

Did good Saturday. Got out about 5:30am. Fished till about 10:45, but things slowed after 9:30 or so. Got a bunch of under 15in walleyes jigging in the morning, and man were there a lot of Rock Bass around. Then went to cranks and everything we caught from then on was 17-22in. Caught three Crappies on cranks too. Missed a couple of bigger fish, but all in all was a great day.
