Big lake (north of ely)

I was thinking about trying big lake this weekend for walleyes. Just wondering if anyone has any information on ice fishing there. I have never fished it in the winter. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

If you know the lake well enough, look for weeds, rocks and the deepest holes.

Never fished it in the winter but used to fish it often in the open water season. I was up that way on a snowmobile a few years ago and didn't see any signs of activity on the lake. Anybody know if that lake makes good, reliable ice? I'm usually (never) the first guy to go out on a lake, so when I saw there was no signs of other activity there I got suspicious of the ice. I'd like to fish it in the winter, too ... but gotta feel safer about the ice before I venture out alone.
