I am not sure why but thousands of things pop up to keep me off the water in August.
The boat hasn't been out of the shed for 3 weeks.

My priorities are in the right place I know that fishing is the most important thing but one thing after another comes along that needs taking care of.

Fishing in August is great, I love to troll  and fish near rock reefs so it is not terrible fishing that keeps me on dry land.

I told you that so I could tell you this....... I work hard to get things done so I don't have anything to keep me off the water in Sept-Oct-Nov.

Fall fishing starts in two weeks.......That will be me out there in my Ice Armor or Rain Gear.....Smilin'  How about you?

For me the end of August usually means that Duck season is that much closer.

But my folks just bought a place in bastic bay. So this year the end of August will mean a trip to LOW for some early fall pike action!!! As well as a little scouting for quackers. A mid October trip may be in the books as well.

I live for fall. I save all my vacation and personal holidays for September, October, and November.

A trip up in Oct for me to fish the river or lake.  Not much of a hunter anymore except for large eyes and LOW is where I like to look for them.  Nice to meet you last Sat. Curt.  Would have liked to chat a bit more but I didn't want to hold up the line of boats waiting to launch.  Good luck this fall!

Yes Slammer it was real good to see you.  It sounded like you had been "Slammin' em!.  Even on the days when I am not going to fish I like to walk down to the boat landing and see what is going on.  You never know who you will run into......See you again

Been waiting a year for our annual fishing trip I've been going on for the last 6 years. We always go in September when the shiners start moving into the river and the eyes are moving in closer to the south end. Always get plenty to eat along with many catch and release slot  fish. A fun group of 21 of us this year are battling for the traveling trophy that we have name, year, and length engraved each year  of the largest walleye caught over a 4 day contest. This year's trip is the week of 21st. Hopefully my name will finally get put on the trophy, 3 out of the 6 years, it's been caught out of my boat and I was just 3/8" away from getting it a few years ago.

What a great tradition you and your group have established.  It is hard to get (and keep) a group together like you have done.  Good Luck and I think you ought to hit it about right for great September fishing.

We head for the big pond Monday and will do some pre fishing Tuesday for our groups largest walleye tourney. I see the weather has been fairly warm and was wondering if the shiners have been seen in the rainy yet. Are the larger fish still up north or have they been caught out just a few miles out from zippel bay, morris point, or the gap?  Any good advice is welcomed.

I haven't heard about shiners yet (but they dont check with me).  An early test run is not out of the question.

Fish are definately moving in. I got a 28.25 out a mile on Sunday.  It is ok to get excited
