My brother was up at the cabin over the weekend south end across from Big Foot, not fishing (no idea why, but whatever) just getting it opened up for the season, I asked if there were a lot of boats out and he said most everyone was up on the northwest end of the big lake, my guess when people bunch up there are fish to be had. Looking to get up in early June for a weekend with my little boy chasing some eyes and pannies.

Anybody have any water temps for the chain, primarily Le Homme Dieu, Carlos, Darling??

Thanks!

Fished a tourney on the "Chain" this past weekend. They ran form 65-68 depending on which lake. But it was cloudy and raining. Reno was 60-70 today.

Thanks, Wayne! Seems like it really jumped up since I was up there two weeks ago!

We have had good luck the last couple of weeks. The smaller lakes seem to be better now. My son caught and released his personal best, an 8 pounder last night!

Yeah if you can get them to bite there biting the warm weather has got em going but still here mixed reports. Took us a while to find em the other day but when we did they were biting hair jigs with or without bait has been working for me.

Fished a small lake west of Alex this past Saturday from 9am to 7pm. Caught several walleyes, northerns, crappies and a couple huge yellow bullheads. All were caught using spinners tipped with live bait (leaches, fatheads, dead shinners and crawlers). My 13 year old son even caught 2 walleyes with a twizzler candy (it was a lull in the action and he was getting board). We caught fish in depths from 6' up to 15'. The crappies were mostly deeper but the rest were not at a specific depth.

Bottom line, fish were everywhere and hungry and didn't matter much what we did.

Anyone ever fish Lake Latoka?  Going to be going there for a week starting on 6/20 and just curious how things have been?  If it's a decent lake to catch some good fish on.

I fished the Alex area (mostly smaller lakes) and was treated very well by the walleye from June 9th to the 15th. Just wished I lived closer. Even caught a few 9"+ gills on walleye rigs. Great fishery up there.

Saw this on Outdoor News

ALEXANDRIA AREA

Minnows are turning walleyes at Lake Miltona in 30 to 50 feet during the day or on the flats in 20 to 30 feet during the evening. A jig and minnow also will produce walleyes at Lake Andrew in 20 feet, Chippewa Lake in 10 to 17 feet, and along the weedlines of lakes Darling, Geneva, and Le Homme Dieu. Muskie anglers are reporting plenty of follows and a few hookups on Miltona in 15 feet. There seems to be more geese than ducks in the area this week.

30 to 50 feet, little eyes trying to hide down there. Remember that mortality can be high for eyes brought up from that depth, they can't adjust to the change in pressure. Not a catch and release situation if you are targeting them in those depths.

Interesting point. Have there been studies done on which depth is safer for fish to be released?

That's why I posted that, they are advocating to go out and catch fish that are that deep...unless you're pulling them up over a 10minute period or longer, they usually become floaters.

Be careful fishing for walleyes 30 - 50' and especially 70' deep.

ALEXANDRIA AREA

A jig and minnow is turning walleyes in 60 to 70 feet on Lake Miltona and Lake Ida, 7 to 10 feet on Lake Reno, or in 18 to 20 feet on Lake Darling and Lake Le Homme Dieu. Large sucker minnows also have triggered plenty of muskies at Miltona. Waterfowl hunters are seeing more geese than ducks, pheasant action is slow, and archery hunters are seeing bucks on the move.

Could someone give ice reports from Miltona now until Thanksgiving day? Really want to go that weekend if possible.

Miltona is wide open, there will be quite a few boats out there this weekend. Most lakes south of Miltona are fishable by boat.
