Verizon Cell Phone Users

I noticed ATT now has good coverage up Scenic Highway 7 per the map on their web site.

If you have Verizon I would encourage you to call them and tell them you want service in that area.

I told them if they do not have coverage by spring I am switching.

Good for ATT but I'll bet Verizon still has way better coverage overall. Others may catch up some day but building those networks takes a lot of time and money.

Coming from someone who's negotiated a few cell tower leases, I'll tell ya you may as well change now cuz if they don't have a site picked out by now there's no way they'll have coverage by spring - of 2015 anyway. . MAYBE if they have a chance to co-locate with ATT but there's plenty that can derail that too.

It doesn't hurt to let them know you want it though.

That is my dilemma. Verizon has way better coverage overall but not at my cabin. I will probably stay with Verizon for cell phone because of that but I want to get Verizon moving on providing coverage to that area. When I talk to Verizon they will not tell me if they have plans for coverage for this area.

I plan to switch my mifi over to ATT unless Verizon has coverage by this spring. That way I can login to work from cabin when needed. I hate to login to work from the cabin but it is better than staying home.

I've noticed really spotty Verizon coverage north of Grand Rapids, also. I stopped at a bait shop this winter near Big Fork and happened to be complaining about cell reception to see what service they use at the store. The guy said he uses a booster with Verizon and doesn't have a problem.

So, for those with a cabin, it might be worth it - month the thing on your roof and you should get decent coverage. But, if you're out on the lake, then it's still going to be crappy. I haven't done much research yet, but I think there's a mobile booster which would probably work in a vehicle or boat.
