Clam Sub Zero Boots fell apart

Any one else have any issues with these? I have only worn them a handful of times. There are straps on the back you can tighten around your legs, the right boot strap came completely off of the boot. Looks like the adhesive didn't hold.

They must use the same adhesive on their hub shelters. My year old XL4000T is falling apart. Clams response was to take every joint apart and glue them back together with gorilla glue. If you have a receipt I would return them. Your problems are just starting.

All brands will have a defective item once and awhile. I have two seasons on my sub zeros and had no problems with them. if you look at the greater numbers for the number of boots out there the defect rate is extremely low compared to the number of boots out there. the same can be said about the houses too.

Clam corp is self destructing with their cheap Chinese made dump.

Its really not about where a product is made but what standards the company sets for the products production. Chinese factories are going to make the product based on the specs provided by the company using the material that the company has approved. If Clam has provided a faulty design and approved inferior materials its not the Chinese factories fault that the product is garbage.

If the company provides a good design and high quality material it also still needs to maintain quality control practices. If the company is lax in quality control then bad products can still make their way to the customer. That can happen with Chinese factories, US factories, or any other factory.

I believe the reason that Chinese factories get a bad wrap is that companies start making product there to save money, but they don't just look for cost savings in labor costs. They also start cutting costs on design and material costs which are bigger factors in producing garbage product.

I work for a company that has a product manufactured in China and I can't tell you how many times we've had to reject and send back entire shipments because production swapped/subbed/switched components with lesser quality. We got to the point where we had to send a full time person over just to monitor production and they still tried slipping in inferior components. We even shipped them specific hard drives to install and they sent us back garbage Chinese knock offs.

It's a never ending fight. My guess is they used a cheaper adhesive without Clam's knowledge. Probably switched to a lower grade rubber as well.

Then recall the junk and stop telling consumers to glue it back together... Simple fix.

That is good customer service, a company that stands behind their product is admirable in this day and age. Glad it worked out.

Its funny how quick are people to just start smashing clam. I fish and I Ice fish even more. My first suit was the clam edge suit before that it was all carhart. I love all my clam suits. As far as your subzero boots this is the first problem I have heard about them.. As far as everything being made in china your right. I think the only thing made in america is the maki plastics. I pretty much bleed blue and it was like that far before I was ever sponsored. Im sorry for hijacking your thread but im sick of seeing people bash companys. Everyone has gear that fails Im not gonna name any names but Im sure we could go on forever. I use the clam conversion plate exclusively all year. People look at me funny but when im drilling alot of holes my body doesnt ache as bad and I can drill more which equals more fish usually. I love to fish and am always wearing blue or the extreme (gray suit). If you ever see me out on the ice stop by I drive a blue ford and I fish all over mn. Stop by lets catch some fish and leave your bad talking other company stuff at home.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
