My brother and I are heading up on Wed, planning on running and gunning with a chevy pick up and portables. I just have a couple of questions. Where to start? (outside of pine island, zipple, long point, spring steal your)? Im really just looking to get my brother on some nice fish. Anybody have any ideas? How about snow depth? I've heard reports from 4 to 8 inches of snow. How is going off the beaten trail going to be?

Not sure about the snow because we left on 1/01/15.We started at Morris Point on the 27th and fished to the 30th and fishing was real slow,we were fishing in 26'. We were pulling a wheel house and the ice is really rough out there, did not want to go to far out on that rough of ice.I give Morris alot of thanks for the hard work on getting the roads to what they are.Never seen the ice that bad.

Moved to Springsteel on the 30th and they said go out 5 miles and get away from everyone and we did(24').Caugh more fish in the first 4 hours then we did in the 3 days at Morris Point.Had a blast and the ice is much smoother over there.Good luck I here they got up to 12" of snow.

The snow did not fall straight out of the sky. The lake is covered in 2 foot drifts, almost like waves. I'd recommend going out through a resort with a plowed road system such as Adrian's or Zippel, from there you can venture off road as far as you'd like, but at least you'd be able to get on the lake.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I have been pondering this idea in my head for the past week now and now I think I have a plan.
