Son has a hockey tournament the weekend of Jan 8, in Warroad. So I will have some off time between games and such. Never fished LOW so what I am looking for is someplace out of Warroad that I can drive out of for a couple hours, go back in and then maybe back out. What would be the best route to go. Is this something like fishing Red?

I agree with back2MN. You're only 10 minutes from a plowed road at Springsteel. Not sure when you short time period to hit the ice would be but if it's sunrise/sunset look to fish the shoreline break or up on or near one of the reefs in the area. As shallow as 12' can be effective.

If it's the middle of the day shoot for deeper water near South Tip or Whiskey Jack's Flat. If you have a smart phone I'd definately suggest the $15 navionics app if you don't already have it. Good place to start.

Thanks for the reply. I guess all the boys are going to rent a day house. 1st game at 9ish. They are going with some type of guide so I will just follow them and help out and try and get in some fishing. Looking at the reports, looks like it is slow.

If we do not follow the kids out, I need to be able to do some looking at a lake depth map but with the lake being so large and every bay having a name I can not figure out what section of the lake I need. Springsteel area I guess. Not bringing the ATV which has the GPS Mount. Forgot have the Nav Chip on the phone
