So I was listening to fan outdoors this morning and they mentioned something about "the hot lure" on lake of the woods last year was the berro (sp?) Jig. I barely heard that segment and it sounded like they said the berro jig but I have been searching and I have found no results online. Anyone hear that segment and know the jig they were talking about? A has anyone tried that lure?

All I can say is the old faithfuls seem to come through every year.

I would agree.

Try the same set up you would on open water with your boat. 1/4" jig head laced with a frozen shiner is simple, cheap and effective. You use it in your boat, might as well on the ice.

Wow! $5.00 a pop for a hook with a drop of colored epoxy as a head? No, thank you.

Dead stick = plain red hook/lively shiner or chub, 2-3 tiny white glow beads, and a couple split shot a foot or two above.

Jigging rod = small pink/gold/white/chartreuse rattle spoon.

Easy peasey, Japaneasy!

According to the web site they are handmade in Duluth. Hope they are at the show. But you are right do not see to many takers at $5.00 per. We are almost talking the price of a Rap

Canopy Sam,

Good information. I always tell myself that I AM NOT going to buy any fishing tackle when going into a bait shop to pick up minnows for a full day's fishing trip. However, I always end up picking up another charmer, macho minnow, slender spoon, etc. Unfortunately for me, I'm sure I'll end up with one (or two) of these $5 jigs.

Good luck on the ice.

Boar, know what you are saying. Start of last season I thought I would keep a tally sheet for each day of fishing This lasted only several trips I guess best thing not know but just assume it is a lot less

I remember that kegel… stuff….!   just finished my post work latte as a matter of fact!  Only the second case of those I’ve ever bought.     I’d get Mike something better.

application has been submitted. 👍   Leech......i've shot my share of bear......it be nice to get another but not the end of the world if i dont. i get to spend time with my son...its just another way to get into the woods. i've been at it since about 1976......that rush when you walk up to the bait and see the logs scattered all over and bait gone just doesnt get old for me.   i had to get rid of 1 rug because of bad tanning. i have another rug, shoulder mount and made 3 pillows from 2 different bear hides. my biggest issue has become what to do with the hide....that seems more of a trophy then the meat. i inquired 1 year at the Alex decoy show when there were a couple hide guys there and they didnt seem to interested. 🙄 i have no other ideas for the hide.......approval from the wife is not even negotiable!!!!!

Something in May, like around Opener.  Could be white knuckles for boaters that weekend with the way things stalled out since the contest started and how thick it still is.   Highs in the 50’s coming but lows are around freezing and not a lot of wind in the extended forecast.   I’ll tell  ya what, if you change from 4/26 and it hits that date, I’ll buy ya some mythical FM beer.  And you know where you can find it. 😉. But don’t change on my account - this is still a free country!

I caught the 10pm news the other night. They said that starting next week Minnesota will be above average for temps. I give them a 33% chance of getting that right.
