Lots of Hoyts. Interesting because I never hear anybody but Michael Waddell talk about Hoyt.

More PSE's than I expected, I thought I was more of an outcast than I guess I am.

I would imagine a good bit of this is dictated by the best bow shop in your area & what they sell... That can go a long ways to what you buy I think. Hard to beat good service and help in the buying process.

I currently shoot a Hoyt Alphamax 32.

In re: your comment - There are lots of guys that shoot Hoyt "in the industry". I just don't think Hoyt spends as much money on tv show "celebs" to have them using their bows. They do have guys like Waddell, Bill Winke, and some others, such as some of the best western hunters like Randy Ulmer, Cameron Hanes, etc. I'd guess they have a nice share of the market, and many of the professional competition archers still shoot Hoyt.

As far as PSE, that isn't a surprise to me. PSE makes a nice bow, at a more mid-market price, and they are one of the few bow brands that Cabelas, Bass Pro, Gander, i.e., the "box stores" carry - likely the top brand available at those stores which get the most hunter traffic and hunter dollars.

Now days there are lots of bow brands that are making nice bows. Its just about personal preference and the size of one's pocket book.

2011 Martin exile..

Lucky for me I found a good deal online and picked it up. Hadn't had much to do with bows before this but have seem to adapt well to it! Proshop helped get me going with the extras and here we are.

If I had to do it over I would have shot others first but this worked out and saved some cash.

All Midwest whitetail also do and so do most the Jordan clan. Either way the new bows now are all good you need to shoot a few bows and go back the one you don't want to set down don't buy because of the name.

As far as PSE, that isn't a surprise to me. PSE makes a nice bow...

My brother shot a Hoyt for at least a couple decades. When Scheels dropped their prostaff program, as I mentioned above, he started looking at some other options, mostly just for the sake of change and because he wasn't locked into Hoyt like he had been. He ended up shooting a PSE Freak and thought "What the heck?", and gave it a try. He loves it! He, just like me and a lot of others, didn't have the PSE mojo before that. However, he shoots that bow better than any other bow he's ever owned. ...and he's a guy who has shot a ton of 300 60Xs in competitive archery. I was pretty well locked into Bowtech, Hoyt, or Elite for my next bow, but I may have to take a peak at PSE too.

Hoyt Rampage XT for the past 2 years. Great bow for my budget. A lot of features for the price.

I tried a PSE, don't remember which one, a Mission something, and a Bowtech assasin (I think) All in roughly the same price range and I just liked how the Hoyt felt.

So far I'm happy with my choice.

I shoot an Elite GT500. Had the bow for 3 years now and absolutely love it. Had new strings put on it this year, so I am sure that I will use it for quite a few years to come.

Hoyt Spyder 30. Prob will shoot this for a very long time!

Brands I have hunted with over the years, High country, Onieda, Hoyt, Bear, Mathews. Current bow, Mathews outback. I will hold onto this one for a few more years and then look at the newer stuff. Lightweight, fast, and compact. Kind of like an old pair of shoes, just feels right!

I shoot a Mission Journey. Bought it in 2009. I really like it. One thing I would change is that it is fairly heavy. Over the years I have come to shoot it well.

Gee, not one Bear yet. I shoot a Bear Mauler.

PSE for me right now. I'm in the market for a new bow though. I'm going to shoot a bunch and get what feels best. I'm not brand loyal when it comes to bows.

Geez I'm getting old school...

I'm still toting around a Matthews LX. I have the draw weight set at about 57 pounds the last time I checked and still hit baseball size groups out to 50 yards. It makes those 20-25 yard MN shots much easier.

I keep thinking about upgrading this or that on it but I'm comfortable with what I have. I almost don't want to try a new bow for fear I'll have to whip out the big coin to stay happy!! eek

Unless mine breaks, my next new bow will most likely be a nice recurve.

Been shooting a PSE for 20 yrs, fisrt one was a Nova, then I picked up the 2011 modle PS dream season. crazy fun. Love it its so freaking fast to what im used to the release and the sound of the arrow hitting the target is one sound together pretty much.

Matthews Reezen the last 5 years, Hoyt Magnatec that I really liked prior. Yes, local shop has a lot to do with it- sights and rests too. Lots of Bowtechs and Matthews and Hoyts in our league but any of the newer bows are great. Would like to check out Elite and PSE next go around. Seen it here a million times: the best bow is the one that just feels right.

Mathews Helim for me and Mathews Jewel for the wife.

Had a PSE, Diamond before, all killed deer, just really liked the feel of the Helim when it came out.

Wife has shot a Parker and Diamond.

I shoot a PSE DNA, she's a beast!!

With bad shoulders, I was thinking of buying a 50 pounder this winter. That new Hoyt Nitrum 34 looks really tempting. Will maybe shoot a few this winter to see what feels best. I'm thinking I could go to a 50 pound Nitrum and still get the same speed I'm getting with my Maxxis 35 now. Would lose nothing but some pain in my shoulders.

Athens Accomplice primary, Oneida Aeroforce for going retro, Mathews MQ32 still hanging out. Picked up a Bear Grizzly recurve but have yet to master this.

I shoot a Mission. It was a good choice for me because it is compact, I shoot it well, and was in by budget.

Wow, you might be the only person I know, other than myself, that still has a MQ32. First bow I bought, still love shooting it, whisper quiet.

So, since I started this mess, I figured I'd wrap it up:

I went through and listed what everybody has (if you listed more than one I counted them all). Results are:

Hoyt 12

Mathews 12

PSE 7

Mission 5

Elite 4

Bear 4

Bowtech 3

Diamond 2

Martin, Athens and Browning all had one.

Also Mission and Mathews are of course connected as they are the same company and I don't really know what the deal with Bowtech and Diamond is but I thought they were pretty much the same too???

I have shot all Bowtechs for a long time--Old Glory, Constitution, Commander, Tribute, and S.W.A.T. They all were great shooters but customer service was another story with S.W.A.T. bow (yes, my last bow). I decided to look elsewhere. I temporarily borrowed Mathews DXT during bowhunting season--nice bow but not for me due to short ATA. I decided to look around for a bow I truly am comfortable shooting all day long without feeling worn out and still can go hunting with it. A pro shop an hour away called me up and suggested me to try out the PSE Vendetta XL which he thought would fit the bill perfectly for me. I tried it and got hooked fast--my wallet was really comfortable and happy to splurge that day. If I decide to go for the next bow, it would be a PSE from now on. I have dealt with their customer service and had positive experience after dealing with worn out bowstrings which I needed to replace with custom bowstrings (much stronger material I need). smile

Those flooding problems are a sign of your needle and seat are leaking.  If the needle has a ring around the tip you can clean it if it's brass. If it has a black rubber tip then it needs to be replaced. You can clean the needle and seat with things like rubbing compound or even toothpaste I use a product called Semi chrome. It for polishing die pins. Just clean them up after polishing.

All of those Polaris sleds from that era were notorious for flooding and leaking. I've still got a 2003 XCSP 600 Edge that my daughter rides. As you noted, you need to shut off the fuel in those situations.

Yes, but it could make for an amazing walleye opener.

How old is your belt?   My old Polaris 4 wheeler with belt drive was bogging at mid range to top end last year.  Changed the belt and that problem went away.

Previous owner (22 years and 5,000 miles ago) said it was prone to flooding when sitting for a long time or trailering, so I shut the fuel off in both cases.   Primary is significantly worn.  I replaced several rollers and pins which helped.  I have two used clutches in much better condition that I could (and should) install.   It seems more like when I hit the throttle, but the bog could be from poor clutch shifting.  Will have to pay attention next time and inspect the clutches.  Thanks for the ideas.

Nope, he beat me fair and square, all his.  This weather had been depressing. As it sits now we are looking at a later than normal ice out. I hate scrabbling with docks, lifts, boats right before opener. Also limits some pre opener crappie chances.

👍 when/if i get drawn.....which i should know about june 1 we'll get in touch........both my kid and myself should get drawn.   and thanks.........with 6 preference points............i think are odds are pretty good.............there giving out 375 permits......and since we had yogi and booboo destroy my birdfeeders last spring......🙄

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?
