Repairing a portable

I have a flip-over style portable. The rear corners have worn through on the tub. I have tried patching them with metal and rivets, but I get a lot of snow while towing it. I am wondering if I can use fiberglass to repair it. I've never used fiberglass and don't know if it would bond with the plastic.

Take the strip off the back edge and the screws. Pull the fabric down a few inch's past the torn area but not to far as it will lift the front bar up off the ice. I have done this on two flip overs and problem solved!

Ok miss-read that works for tore tarp corners.

The tub patch has been talked about a few times. Fiberglass will not stick-bond to that type of plastic for very long once it flexes it will pop right off over time. Some times you can buy a wear runner kit and you maybe able to go right over by bending them up over the damage area using some heat.

Thanks, but my holes are on the bottom of the tub, not the fabric.

Here is pretty much the same way that I have fixed plastic holes and cracks. The best way is to try and melt back the same type of plastic that came out of it. I have use plastic from the blue or black heavy plastic barrels you see all over the place for sale. You don't need to buy a kit like that if you have a good heavy soldering iron and round up some plastic to patch with.

Just sandwich the holes between two pieces of hard plastic, like the runners are made of. There was a guy on the l1st who sold runner material, or some other way to find it. I just slathered silicone in the hole area and then bolted (with it countersunk) it through tight. Been holding for about 4-5 years now. It can make bottom uneven a bit, but if youhave it on both sides it will even out

Call the maker of the house and buy a new sled. Thats the best way and will last way longer. Oh and get a hyfax kit while your at it.

Body puddy has the same resin as fiberglass "Polyester" and will not bond and will just pop off over time.

I would agree with Northlander, get hyfax and put that on the bottom of the sled, it will make the tub last almost forever.

I agree!! Sleds aren't that expensive when it comes to having to drag something that catches snow and ice making it harder to pull.

What brand is it? I had a Eskimo that wore out pretty quick on those corners.
