Anything new in battery powered augers this year?

I would like to buy a battery powered auger this year. The ION seems to be the best last year. Any opinions? Anything newer available?

Thanks,

Jim

There's a lithium ion from strikemaster and a clam drill plate adapter. Search around and you'll see plenty of reviews and opinions on them. Just a word of caution, the clam drill plate will require a really nice drill. If you try to skimp on the drill it'll just burn out. Plenty of that happening last year. But guys who were properly-equipped seemed really happy with them.

The Strikemaster costs a fortune and the Clam plate is only good for thin early ice, Ion is still your best bet, this years model has reverse!

I have been checking them out myself for the new wheel house. I think I will be going with the Ion myself. I will get the 24 inch extension for the thicker ice.

After a TON of research & review reading I ordered the new Ion...just arrived a few days ago. Anxious to give it a try...we are getting 10"+ on our 1st real snowfall of the season TODAY!

Who has the best prices on the ion? I know there was a place in Chaska Minn that had them for $463.00 but I can't find them again pm me is anyone has a great price on them!

Thanks!

This time of year I doubt you'll find any big discounts...Gandermountian currently has a 10% off code (VET10) so it would cost $477, that's probably the best deal you'll find until spring clearance time...

I just bought mine from profishingsupply.com. $519 with free blades ($49 value) & free shipping. Fishnstyle.com in Savage, MN has/had an "Early bird" special for $476 but $35 shipping.

Since I am in SD, I bought one from MN to avoid paying sales tax! wink

If you can go this season without it, you'll save a boatload in the spring when they clearance them out...that's what I did last spring, it just matters if waiting to you is worth saving $50-$100....

What I really wanna know is:   How’d get that lattice to curve like that?  Bomb diggity!

Fish Newton lake is great for walleyes. Everyone goes to basswood and forgets about newton. The late fall pike bite in pipestone is amazing and it’s a great time to catch the big walleyes are up there feeding too.

It would cost you 830 bucks to watch every game this NFL season under multiple platforms.   I don't have peacock or espn+ or whatever they want me to have, so I'll just have to relent on being able to watch a few games.  I refuse to cave in to their demands just to watch the Packers play the Eagles in Brazil.  I think last year peacock had the exclusive rights to the Miami/KC playoff game too.  I'm sure that will occur again in January.

Well it's a win, but it wasn't to Purdy with all the turn overs and penalties!

Oop, must be another Vikings game.  So far it's been a Prudy game, Viks!  😁

Another prediction.   Under the cloud of "Woke Inclusion" Just like the Mn state flag and the Mn Twins, the Vikings name will be going away in a few years! Their already making them look like Snow flakes!  We can't have the uniforms of angry Norwegian people!  Sounds funny but. Wait for it! 😒

Just sayen, not all the loyal old fans, can pay for the NFL viewing package!

New frontiers.  Expand the market; make more money.  Despite some PR moments, they’re not in it for charity.   BUT, they might want to take a moment and see how that worked out for NASCAR.  Not that having to buy premium channels to watch races was the only problem but it sure helped kill the fever for a lot of people.

Get ready. Any bets in a few years the average Joe NFL fans aren't going to be able to watch their local teams, unless it's pay for view!  Sounds like their greasing the wheels now.  There are 5 international games this year! ☹️ "The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid, Spain in 2025, as the NFL prioritizes global growth and expands the International Games to new cities and markets around the world."

I have gone into Basswood from Fall Lake. From Fall the first portage takes you into Newton and that is the easier of the two. The portage from Newton into Pipestone is the one with a hill. It is definitely harder! You also have to be careful when you go down the hill because the boat will pick up speed and can get away from you. Yes, you can get to Jackfish without going into Canada and there are signs letting you know where Canada is.
