Need help on the value of a shotgun

I have a Remington 1100, 12ga, 2-3/4, 3 chokes, 28" vented rib barrel, checkered stock/forend. It's used, but in pretty good condition. The prices I see on the gun sites range from $500ish to close to $1000. I'm trying to work out a trade on a log splitter and need some help.....Thanks

It's probably valued in that range.Unless they had a ready buyer looking for it my guess is the trade in value to a gun shop would be less than 500 dollars.

Thanks. That's a pretty big range. If I wanted to sell it outright, would I split the difference for approx value? I need A little tighter idea of an approx value.

The gun prices on most sites are what is wanted buy the buyer and not what they are getting for it.

That gun in the shop would be worth $350-$425 depending in condition and in trade in value most would give $200-$250.

I am going to agree with Gordie on this one, I had one and sold it for 300$ I felt like the buyer got a good deal as well as myself. Unfortunately there are a lot of 1100's out there for sale and unfortunately there is a reason for it. Myself and several friends have had some issues with them in colder weather. I know there are exceptions to the rules, but putting over 1000 rounds through these guns in 30F or temps below they just don't prevail. I apologize if I am being harsh, but if you can get a value of 400$ for it I would take it.

Thanks for your opinions, sure would have liked to hear it was worth a little more. In reality, I was thinking about $450ish, but when I saw some of the online prices, I was hoping for more.

You haven't even posted a single picture of the gun. How do you expect to get a solid valuation on an internet forum for a gun with just a brief description not supported by pictures? Even then we are mainly just rubes and can only do so much.

The best option would be for you to take it to a gun dealer, see what they offer, and then try to get a bit more.

What has happened in the gun world is the same thing that happen to cars. Technology has passed the old ones by. The Rem is a fine gun but its old. A picture that shows a gun in awesome condition won't change the fact its old, can't shoot 3" or steel shot, weighs a ton, doesn't have choke tubes and has O-rings.

It does have choke tubes and it doesn't take a whole lot to make a 3 inch chamber, but the fact is what you said' its a old shot gun and its value will reflect that.

Remington still makes the 1100, but at a much more inflated price and it carries most all the bells and whistles. The fact that it has a O-ring should have no bearing what so ever as some of the finest gun makers still use them in their autos.

I was at a local gun shop a couple weeks ago. They had plenty of used 1100's for sale. Price range was 300-450. I'm quite sure they didn't give out that much when they took it in on trade.

1100 is a good gun. Time tested and for the most part has a good rep. Heck, a couple weeeks ago I was going to buy one until I checked out what else was on the shelf. Unfortunately, everyone has one and there are newer shotguns out there that are lighter, faster, and run in the 500-700 range brand spankin new. This will keep the value of your used 1100 in check.

Totally agree Gordy. I have a 1100 and I went to trade it on another gun as I never use it anymore. 2 different gun shops would give me $250 on trade, I kept the gun. Gun was about an 8 out of a 10 for condition.

One shop had one used on the shelf in very nice condition and it was priced at $340.00.

I thought it would be worth a few hundred more since the new ones are priced where they are but, it is an older gun.

One can find a lot of guns with higher prices but if you look at what they have sold for on a few of the larger gun auction sites, they do not the majority of the time get their asking price.

I bought my 1100 2 years ago for $325, and I that it was very fair. I've had a few problems with it, so I'm thinking about trading it in for something a little lighter and probably brand new.

It's a great gun, but isnt the most expsenive anymore!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
