Yep things happen, admit you are/were wrong, take your lumps, get the help you need to get a handle on your actions/emotions. Not seeing that happen here.

YEah your dilusional debbie downer disease is pervasive and continues. Just because you dont see or believe it doesnt happen does not mean hasnt, cant, or wont.

Your relentless attacks are getting a bit old amateur. You need to give it a rest.

what would happen if the earth and everything on it stopped rotating, but the atmosphere continued to rotate at the current pace?

Quote:
NBA analyst Charles Barkley defended Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson on Sunday during an appearance on CBS’ “NFL Today.” Peterson turned himself in on Saturday after being indicted by a grand jury for reckless or negligent injury to a child for a May incident in which he struck his four-year-old son.

The Vikings announced that he was deactivated for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

The CBS host Jim Rome asked Barkley if it’s okay to hit a child.

“I’m from the south. Whipping — we do that all the time. Every black parent in the south is going to be in jail under those circumstances,” said the retired NBA Hall of Famer.

I think he thinks if he throws enough dump against the wall something got to stick. Kind of like earlier in the thread where he was arguing that Boogaard was administered drugs from a Wild coach. Pretty tough for a Wild coach since he played for the Rangers.

I'd like it every NFL player regardless of color just decided to stand up and say were not playing until every corporation in the U.S. publishes employee arrest records and every employee with a similar offense is fired.

Peterson isn't fired and if a business has that language in their hiring and firing practices and an employee violated that provision it would result in the same decision. What does that have to do with the NFL that is collectively bargained between the players, their reps and the owners. The players by signing a contract agree to these stipulations. If they think there is a gray area maybe they should consult with their $600 an hour legal representative. Whether they want it or not these players are under a microscope 24-7 and should realize what they are doing, of course Peterson felt he did nothing wrong so there is that.

The hypocracy in this whole situation is that, from what I've recently read, the rate of reported family abuse cases is much higher in the general population than pro football population. What this means is the NFL appears to already be ahead of society in reducing the incidence of family violence among its active members.
So you are making the leap that because there are fewer "reported" cases (by rate or %) in the NFL as compared to the general population that the NFL is ahead of the curve?

Whoa, I am not too sure you will get much agreement on that.

The key to the whole stat is REPORTED. Ever think that potentially a significantly higher percentage of these situations go UNREPORTED in the NFL for fear of losing a significant source of income? Its quite easy to report the deadbeat that doesnt have a job and a drug addiction, but could be considerably harder to report someone who provides you the nice BMW, kids in private school and diamonds. All of which would instantly be gone if banished from the league.

Pay me 3-11 million bucks a year and I have no problem with you seeing that.

The NFL has a code of conduct that the players supposedly agree to abide by to continue playing in the NFL. There are a few places that have codes of conduct that employees are required to abide by. They can't abide by the code of conduct they are willingly forfeiting their place in the NFL.

How long you think a teacher would keep his/her job being accused and admitting to child molestation?

Sorry I made a mistake with Wild info and admitted it

Upnorth is the one that said he does not believe a word that came out of petersons mouth. Im just defending petersons voice, not his actions, that ok with you?

You read about a lot of pro sports players in the media for breaking the law, but if you look, there is also a lot of police officers getting busted for some crazy stuff too.

Which one is the idol for the kids to look up to?

My answer is neither! Everyone is human, and can, and will make mistakes. If your kids are idolizing anyone but you, then you are the one that steered them wrong. Sports is an entertainment, cops are meant to protect you, and ask(demand) respect. They should be the ones in the spotlight right now!

I could care less what you say. When you start calling people names because they don't agree with you lockstep then you lose a lot of credibility.

I know you are defending AP voice but his actions are not lining up with his voice and that's what people are pointing out.

I apologize, namecalling unwarranted and not apprpriate. Will tryand check myself betterin future.

Ya as mentioned on here. Let's look at Nike a little closer. Any child labor issues there?

You're against the rich now too? Why should it matter what you get paid? I thought that was a liberal mindset? Why is it that only rich people should be subject to having their arrest records made public? I'm sure every corporation with at least several hundred employees has at least one or two bad apples.

A teacher who molests children is hardly the same thing as a football player who over-disciplined his kids. Not a valid comparison.

Due to the nature of my job I'm subjected to an annual criminal background check. I don't think twice about it. I am making slightly less than $3M to $11M per year too.

Still if you are going to take action why not do it to the letter of your newly issued policy? Why are we dealing with an arbitrary suspension pending further results? Either suspend him now for the duration, or wait for a guilty verdict and give him that suspension. But don't do something in between, that is to nobodies benefit other than to appease loudest voices of the flavor of the month.

IMO, and from other sources as well, this case will be "settled" sooner, rather than later.

As long as AP doesn't get stubborn and demand a jury trial, I can see him playing sometime in the 2nd half of this season...

Source? They do probably get away with things at a rate higher than the general population.

Totally agree nick kuhn, they tried that route then corporate america sponsorships came knocking and the door was beaten down. We discovered really fast not only is cash king with players but ownership as well.

I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere yet but he could just plea "No Contest" and get this over with pretty fast.

He wouldn't have to be innocent or guilty, He'd just be agreeing to the plea bargain and not contesting the case.

First time offender with a clean record he'd be on his way with barely any charge, especially in Texas.

A fine, some parenting class, maybe some community service and a little probation.

If he wants to fight it and plea not guilty to try and clear his name it could go on for years.

I would not say that this would be the case at the majority of work places.

They have reported rates, and there are groups with estimated rates of unreported incidents. I didn't see the point of making an argument or statement based on the rank speculation, supposition and personal biases of agenda driven groups.

Most my friends have talked about this and it would be at there jobs also. We already fired someone in August for DWI issues. Now with all the world seeing what you do online people are not being hired and fired for things in personal life more and more.

Without knowing what industries you and your friends are working in it makes it impossible to judge your statement. Yes, if you or your friends are teachers, nurses, day care workers or in any other industry where you are entrusted with the care of others your employment should and would be rightfully impacted in some way. Same goes for DWI cases. If your job entails operating company equipment or vehicles then your job should and would most definitely be in jeopardy. If you are a welder in a shop and none of this other stuff applies to you and you can still make it to work, I don't see any reason why your job and livelihood should be effected.

isn't that precisely what you did by saying NFL is "ahead of the game" when eluding to fewer reported cases in comparison to the general population?

I cited specific reasons in my reply to you earlier on how that's an empty case of reasoning.
