1. Just curious, what issue in the Gubernatorial race is the most important to you?

Not having Dayton reelected.

Quote:
Why your Libertarian vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4, is worth 100 times the other guy's vote

Political leverage! Libertarian Party candidates have it in 2014 — IF YOU VOTE Libertarian.

Why? Unlike the Democratic and Republican candidates, our Libertarian Party candidates for public office have one rock-solid issue — and a clear, powerful message.

Our rock-solid issue: To dramatically expand and advance individual liberty in America.

Our clear, powerful message: Vote for us, elect us, and we will do everything we can to dramatically roll back today's Big Government. To dramatically shrink the size, power, authority, responsibility, taxes, and spending of federal, state, and local Big Government.

Voting Libertarian is voting to give people back their own lives. Their own choices. Their own destinies.

The news media is covering more Libertarian Party candidates more often than ever before.

Because voters are looking us over.

Because 18- to 35-year-old voters are voting for Libertarian Party candidates in higher and higher numbers.

Because the Libertarian Party issues and proposals are the growing choice of a new, young generation.

Because this young generation of voters is talking about us and our government-shrinking, liberty-expanding issues — with their friends and families.

Your vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4, for our Libertarian Party candidates turns up the volume of the word of mouth.

Your vote is seen and talked about by Republican and Democratic Party activists and operatives.

AND by the election night news reporters. AND by the post-election news analysts. ESPECIALLY those on the Internet, in new media.

Your vote may well have 100 times the impact of each vote cast for a Democratic or Republican candidate.

It just might attract more and more voters to the Libertarian Party — to the Libertarian alternative — in 2015 and 2016. And get us closer to the Libertarian tipping point.

Vote Libertarian.

Balanced budget amendment -- sounds good in theory but WW2 would have been hard to fight without a bit of temporary debt. Immigration -- I'd actually prefer more border security and tighter restrictions on entering the country. Bitcoins? Really? Great alternative to the dollar. Absolutely no drug laws? Sounds like a potential disaster waiting to happen.

The Minnesota legislature wants to make it as easy as possible for voters to get to the polls.

In major, DFL-dominated cities, anyway; Minnesota urban transit systems will be providing free transportation all day tomorrow, courtesy of the Democrat-controlled 2014 legislature:

The faith-based group ISAIAH works to increase voter turnout. Organizer Matt Gladue said the new law might help people in a rush with work and children to get to the polls before they close.

“Any law that removes the substantial barriers people face to getting to the polls on Election Day is a good law,” Gladue said. “If it allows one, a hundred or a thousand people to get to the polls who wouldn’t be able to do it, it’s a good thing.”

No word yet if ISAIAH is going to help farmers in Pennington County make the long, cold drive to their polling stations after a long day in the fields…

Having to arrange for transportation to the polls for those living outside the democrat hotzone amounts to a poll tax.

Ain't that right ??

I'm sure my liberal friends will be outraged...

Frauds and Hypocrites.. crazy

ISAIAH, which includes more than 100 congregations around the state, said it is launching the “Prophetic Voter” campaign. The goal is to directly contact 56,000 potential voters in communities across the state. If it succeeds, ISAIAH hopes it will acquire the clout to push progressive policies in the statehouse. It plans to pressure lawmakers to expand access to affordable health care, create more public transit options and work on educational initiatives to end the so-called school-to-prison pipeline.

Where's the outrage?

I am supposed to be outraged at people exercising their constitutional rights to assemble, speak, exercise their religion, and petition the government?

If you disagree with them, you can get a bunch of your buddies or fellow believers and do the same activities. That's basically what the Tea Party folks are doing. The solution is to be more persuasive and work harder, not try to shut them down.

Pretty sure the progressives on here might typically have a problem with it, but probably not in this instance, since it advances the welfare agenda.

I for one enjoyed the free ride into work today. However, they did make you state your party affiliation before boarding, and anyone who wasn't a registered Democrat had to pay full fare.

Pretty funny, except MN doesn't have party registration so far as I know.

All I know is the Democrats got a free ride today. Republicans did too but they mumbled about entitlements and how everyone wants a free ride nowadays. No Libertarians were on the bus as they don't support the socialist policy of government supported mass transit.

It disenfranchises the farmers in Pennington County.

They have to pay their own way to polls.

Conceivable, using liberal logic, that's a "poll tax"..

No, it's not...

unless you're calling Big Dave2 a liberal, he's the one advocating that getting to the polls amounts to a poll tax.

I think he'd get mad if you called him a liberal though. Not as mad as if we changed his name to "BigAuburnDave2" but hey.

Not since Minnesota went to "no excuse" absentee balloting. Anybody that wants to can now vote by mail, absentee.

Some one needs to let the dem. controlled legislature know that.

They're spending $144,000.00 of your money to bus big city folks to the polls. confused

I saw that most of the stations were projecting Dayton and Franken winners with zero % counted. Great job nominating two unelectable candidates MN GOP.

Exactly what I expected of the electorate given the support for having a huntable population of deer in this state. Well done Minnesotans

Dayumm....I should have lived in this state when I was still a public school teacher. What a "Progressive" state.

Governor Mushmouth and Senator Smiley walk into another term...lol

Mills/Nolan neck and neck...

Meanwhile in WI, Scott Walker strolls into another term and likely into an (unsuccessful) Presidential run come 2016.

Looks like Nolan is making a come back and edging out Mills.

We just returned this afternoon from 6 days on Vermilion. We arrived Saturday and enjoyed 3 fantastic days of walleye fishing. My cousin, our friend Greg, and myself fished several of our spring spots and found fish on all of them. Water temperatures were pretty much 65-67 degrees everywhere we fished. The wind was variable and made boat control a challenge at times. Bait was not an issue and we had success on crawlers(Tim), leeches(Greg), and minnows(me). If I had to pick one of those as catching the most fish, it would be crawlers. Our best day totalled 48 walleyes, 4 smallmouth, and 2 big JUMBOS. We ended up with over a hundred walleyes, 12 jumbos 11"-13", and 10 smallmouth to 18". Our biggest walleye was 24.5" and the balance went from 13"-22". There are lots of 14"-16" walleyes this year which are perfect eaters. The mayfly hatch was in full bloom in some areas but we found very few mayflies in the water column over rock reefs. We caught our fish in depths ranging from 10' to 32'. I didn't fish in any area where I could see mayflies top to bottom in the water column. Slow trolling in the .3mph to .6mph worked and we caught nothing using slip bobbers. Terminal tackle was a 3'-4' 10# flurocarbon leader, 2 lime colored beads, and a plain #6 Gamakatsu walleye hook . Snags are always an issue when fishing in and around the rocks and when the fish are biting they are acceptable. NOW, for the bad news.......Tuesday was a day I won't soon forget. The area suffered devastating torrential rainfall. Lightning was non-stop for several hours and when things settled down, flood damage was everywhere. We checked our rain guage on the side of the cabin and we got 7 3/4 " in a little over 4 hours! Breezy Point road washed out, Mud Creek road washed out as did several others in the area. Cooke business area was completely covered with flood water. I would consider it a disaster area and should be declared as such. We couldn't find a dock anywhere that wasn't covered with water. People were stranded behind flood covered and washed out roads. Dock decking, limbs and such were floating everywhere in the big water. My group sends our prayers to the people of that beautiful country that lost their businesses, homes, and suffered damage to their lake properties. The people of that north country are resilient and we have confidence that they will recover. We stayed our final 3 days but didn't fish at all Tuesday. Our last 2 days showed the effects of the storm. Water temps dropped to 64 degrees and our premo fishing became 10 walleye days. We did manage to catch a dozen really nice jumbos. We plan on returning in September and we pray the area will have returned to normal by then. I haven't figured out how to transfer photos from my phone to my computer yet so no pictures at this time. Good Fishing and God be with you. MarkB

Word is that the river has peaked and therefore the town can start the process of recovering sooner.
    • smurfy
Heard that too. Also heard 38 was closed for a but north of rapids due to flooding.    I know the water really came up when I was up last week compared to when I was there in April.
    • Kettle
Someone said 4 inches in the past week, more expected this weekend. A few roads, including county roads that are asphalt ended up with sink holes. Lakes are the highest I've ever seen in the 30+ years coming to the area and now living here. Several people lost trees Tues night
    • smurfy
Dang Kettle  that bites. Great to hear fishing was good though.   How much rain you get up that way?
    • Dash 1
50 in 6 hours is great. Boat issues really put a damper on a great day though. Hope you get it fixed quickly.
