Gov Dayton

Funny, he was invited to an interview on MPR and another on WCCO (WDFL) and he ran away from those this week too. Those aren't exactly DFL unfriendly, so why the tuck tail and run routine???

My guess is because his handlers know that all he could do by opening his mouth at this point is hurt himself. They probably just want to leave well enough alone at this point.

Right. Supreme Court has already said making people pay to be allowed to vote is not allowed. In fact anything that creates a significant impediment to a citizen voting is prohibited.

I'm not sure I would call it the same thing.

Is having to own a pair of pants a poll tax? I'm sure you would be escorted out of the polling location before being allowed to vote and probably even charged with a crime if you show up naked.

Is transportation a poll tax? Some people live miles away from the nearest polling place. If I have to somehow arrange transportation via bus, taxi, car, pay for the fuel to get there, etc. Is that a poll tax?

How do I even find out what candidate options I have to vote for if I don't buy a newspaper, watch TV, have the internet and a devise to access it, etc. Is that a poll tax?

What about the stamp it takes to mail in your ballot ?

Isn't that poll tax ?

All my mail in ballots have been postage pre-paid. No stamp required.

I think you know you're stretching here Dave. None of your scenarios apply exclusively to voting. You can't just walk around in public in your birthday suit, whether you're on your way to the grocery store or the polling station. If you can't make it to the polling station, they will mail you a postage-paid ballot. And there is no requirement that you have to be informed about the candidate. You can walk in, flip a coin and vote for the candidate comes up heads/tails - or you can write-in the name of whoever you think is the best person for the job.

Besides... i am sure if you were desperate enough you could find free pants.

Does Obama provide free pants to those in need? I could use a couple more pairs of blue jeans.

His term isn't up for 2+ years, frown so, if he thought it would get BUY his party more votes, I'm sure he'd find a way to make it happen. whistle

BTW, Don't get him any ideas. laugh

Okay. Here's the deal. All those who have been blathering and bleating about all the candidates and the incredible shortcomings they exhibit just shut up now for a few days and then go vote. No more noise; no more whining and exaggeration, no more twisted nonsense......just shut up and go vote.

We will then see on Wednesday who is gonna be doing what.

After that you all small thinkers can go back to bitchyn. Deal?

I know of a few charities/municipalities that offer transportation to the polls (this is important for a lot of really old people).

Then why not let charities handle the ID cards?

Sounds like Dayton's tuck tail and run strategy: Hide under your desk and avoid the sunlight...but we all know that sunlight is the best disinfectant and Dayton is mighty pale.

No, I'll take anything I can get. Just always seem to be late for the party.

Maybe if you actually got off your butt and did something to help the candidate you support, rather than wasting time here, you might get something accomplished. Your posts here do nothing but provide everyone with a chuckle. If you had your passion for Silly Town directed somewhere else just think what might happen.

So by posting it here for those who have not seen it I am in essence doing something to help the candidate I support.

You're welcome, Canon.

You don't actually think you are posting somthing new to people that view this thread? I just thought getting your very valuable information to people who could be influenced would make much more sense than just wasting bandwidth.I guess you just don't feel you have anything to offer your candidates. They probably would feel the same way,so carry on wasting bandwidth.

Some just cant handle the truth ( or see it on it) cause it hurts their cause, its been well documented MN is 3rd in county for job creation.

when I was guiding for Dan Gapen on the river, we kept the smaller smallmouth for shore lunch. they taste like any other fish.

Leech, let's try to keep this site PG!😂

I've never kept and eaten a small mouth and have only kept 2 large mouth my whole life.  One I mounted and the other I eat just to see what they were like.  But that just me. Well, I've never eaten a rock bass or dog fish either! 😆

After 15+ yrs going to pike bay lodge every June I have noticed many more bass anglers in the resort.  Also notice many 15-18” smallmouth in the cleaning shack.  I would estimate on a daily average 4 of 5 buckets of entrails are of smallmouths vs walleye or pike.  Not sure how it is at other resorts but if folks are taking the larger fish for fish fry it could explain the smaller average size of smallies being caught.  Just my 2 cents.  Largest smallie brought in my boat this year was 19” but fewer 17-18” fish than past years.

Sounds like it's time to start keeping the smaller smallies for lunch.

With two muskies under my belt, my best advice is to fish for pike and bass and then let a giant muskie come chomp down on said pike/bass as you reel it in. 🙂   Unfortunately I have no other good advice.

The guys in that tourney aren't permitted to use live bait though.  That makes a substantial difference.  Clear water and pressure with nothing but artificial lures makes for a difficult bite.   I don't have a theory as to why the average size of smallmouth on Vermilion is declining.  The common explanation would be too many smaller fish are gobbling up resources and there isn't enough for bigger ones, but that doesn't seem like a plausible answer in a big lake like Vermilion.  Certainly people aren't keeping plus sized smallmouth either.  That far north, it takes a bass about 10 years to reach 5 pounds/20 inches in size.

St Cloud has a good access at Wilson park,  Sartell has a nice access off NE River Rd,  another access above Blanchard dam on East side off Hilton Rd  and at Lindbergh state park...Little Falls  has a access right above the dam.   Water is pretty high and dirty.  Crayfish colors have been good again this week.  Smallies have been using anything available that breaks the current so finding them most days has been pretty easy

Interesting...   You're doing better than most.  The biggest bass weighed-in during the recent MN Bass Federation tourney was only 4.33lbs.   The winning bag was less then 20lbs.  To have several over 5lbs during your trip is pretty special.   Congrats!
