What type of Waders do you have?

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a new set of waders. I started looking this weekend so I can use them to put the dock in. I am on the fence on whether to go with the 5mm neoprene with 1000+/- thinsulate (which I have now) or try the breathable waders this time around.

Both pair are around $200 so I'm just seeing what everyone else's experiences with the lighter weight waders are.

kinda depends upon the time of year and what Im gonna be doing.

Meaning, if its early in the year and there will be a lot of walking involved going to and from the blind/hunting spot - I opt for a lighter pair of waders.

Likewise, if its November and cold out, I go with my more insulated ones.

hope this kinda helps...I got 3 pair that I switch around in depending upon the conditions.

Have used Cabela's Dry plus the last 8-10 yrs. Early or late, no problems. Just get a good set of long underwear or wader pants.

Thanks for the info...That's what I was wondering. I don't hunt after Deer hunting and rarely stand in cattails for any extended amount of time. I've always had the heavy duty neoprene and sweat so bad in early season. I've got plenty of wool socks and long underwear. I just may have to try something new!

I like the idea of having a couple sets I may have to get a lighter pair as well. One pond I hunt I stand in waste deep water so the neoprene is nice I never get cold but early season I sweat like a pig wearing these in the boat.

One nice thing about the breathables is you can wear your hunting boots to the slough while carrying the waders like a fanny pack.
