Date & Time: Saturday February 15th, Meet at the access 8 am or meet on the lake.

What to bring: Spearing stuff and positive attitude, and a open mind to having a great time on the ice.

I could bring a grill but what about a boil of some kind? Im not a food prep guy but would something like that work? I have a turkey fryer that I could bring.

Just a thought....

We could do like we have done at the cattin on the chain GTG and have a fish fry. We could clean some fish that we get along with bring some to the lake. just a thought.

Is this event open to everyone?

YES the more the more fun!

Sounds good. Being a spearing rookie, I could learn a thing, or two, from attending this event. My work schedule needs to get worked out first.

Posted

I pretty sure I could be there. As we get closer I will know more. I could make a pot of chili, if you got a cooker to heat it up.

Has anyone heard any reports on clarity or travel conditions on the ice? I might be able to make a day trip up there and check it out.

Posted

Last I heard the ice was great and the water clarity is good I also would like to get up that way and with any luck next week I will hopefully make the trip.

Posted

I will be up that way for a family get together on the dead sea next weekend and will go check it out and report kick out a few reports.

If you need some gear let us know. I have enough for a couple extra people and I know other guys that will be there will have extra stuff. I have a spare house as well for anyone to use if they need.

Wow cool...i let you guys know. Who is from that area that the lake is by im just wondering how it was chosen

We should probably get someone out there to check travel conditions. According to Garrison Sports they didn't think anyone was driving out because of the slush and deep snow. I never take them reports real serious until I see or hear something first hand. I'm stuck down south but I know Gordie said he was maybe going to try and get out there this weekend.

We used to do a poll with I believe 3 different lakes and you could vote on it. Problem with that was a zillion people voted (I believe a lot were for the wrong reasons)and a lot of them had no intention of showing up. The last couple years we all just kind of discussed what lake and chose one.

Each year we have a gtg the first weekend in December on Third River Flowage(Winnie)at Dixon Lake Resort.

Father inlaw has cabin up by perham and he said slush is keeping them off the lake.

I am going to be up that way on Saturday and I'm going to the lake to check it out if its no good we can choose another lake.

My son got paid back for a good deed he did several years ago. He found a couple of expensive items at a boat ramp and called me asking what he should do.   I told him to bring them home because I was afraid if someone else found them, they might keep them. It was winter and nobody was around. This was when Facebook wasn't really popular yet, I was on several sites like this. First thing we did was make a big sign and posted it at the boat launch, then I posted it on all the forums I was on. Long story short, we never found the owner, but we sure tried. I know to this day, if either one of us found something, we'd do our best to get it back to the rightful owner.

Yes, for sure.     A few years back, and unbeknownst to me, a piece of trim came off my sled while traveling over the lake.  A fellow sledder and complete stranger found the piece and followed my tracks all the way back to my cabin to return the lost item.  Couldn't thank him enough.  His kindness will never be forgotten and is something to which I aspire.

We got the auger back! The person who found it didn't want me to mention his name, we can't thank him enough! Still good, honest people around. He called Spring Bay Resort and asked if they heard of anyone losing an auger and they sent him a screenshot of my post. So, thanks to Dayis and Steve at Spring Bay Resort for that! Thanks again everyone for getting the auger back to us!

Who’s been out? I got hit with the flu and am still recovering.

That's what they're going to do. I always read these posts and wondered how people could lose or forget stuff, well it happens!

Dang….  I know it’s your son, so kinda different, but I’d be expecting a replacement from those who lost it.  The group could each put in and wouldn’t hit one or another too bad.   But that’s just an old man’s thoughts….💭    Good luck.

So my son and buddies were out this morning fishing between Wakemup and H.O.L. Bays (probably between Metza's pt and Schmidt Island), so they had to cross the snowmobile trail to The Landing. Well,  MY Strikemaster 24 volt auger fell off the back of my sled.  They didn't realize it until they got back. If anyone found it, would be nice to get back...please and thank you. Good news is they had the battery in their pocket..... Dip $hits😡
