2014 Vikings head coach is....

Scott K

Del rio was already here once and didn't do much. he is a nice guy and all but not head coach material, that is why he isn't one anymore. lovie is going to tampa, we need a emotional younger guy that will be guns a blazing. frazier had no emotion good or bad, but until the GM is gone it wont get better. it wasn't fasiers idea to bring in freeman or play ponder as much as he did, that was the GM!! im tired of having rebuilding years, we have a old d line overpaid o line and no QB. im a vikes fan through and through but man it is getting tough.

That is no surprise. We already had plenty of looks at how he chooses his "players that give us the best chance to win". LMAO

The Bengals are beat. Jay Gruden has done well with that offense for 3 years and is available now! Reading today that Ray Horton (looks like a thug) of the Browns was disliked and felt he should have been fired, not Chudzinski.

shanahan

If MN hires Shanahan, I will become a Packers fan. The game has passed him by; his last severa years of work are unimpressive at best.

Whatever the Lions are offering Whisenhunt, MN should tack on 20% and pray they get him.

Shanahan would be a terrible choice unless it was his son. The old man is done.

I want the whizinator.

What has Jay Gruden done to deserve anything?? 3 first round playoff loses in a row?? Yep, he will fit right in here in good ole MN. The Grudens just like the Ryan brothers are highly overrated.

I don't get the point of coming on here and slamming down everybody else's opinions, but never actually giving one yourself. These forums are famous for it, if you're so smart give us peasants some insight.

I'd take Gruden or Whisenhunt over some of these tools I'm hearing about that are coming in for interviews this week.

I really are that simple, arent you??? I am sorry that I cant supervise you so you can read all of my post. I give more opinion than anyone else on here and that's why people like silly me get upset with me. I have stated several times that if I was hiring a coach it would be a guy like Mike Tomlin, David Shaw, Urrban Meyer, or one of the Harbaughs. Fools like me are incapable of an objective thought process of why a person should or shouldnt be added to a professional organization. I dont know how much more I can dumb it down for myself. It is very rare to be able to BUY championships and piece together teams, and its a stupid move bring in old has-been coaches or fancy names.

Buck, since none of those guys you mentioned are going anywhere "who" is "like" them that "isn't" them?

I agree from a personality wise but I have no idea who that is available is "like" any of them.

None of the candidates I have seen thrown around anyway.

Oh so you would hire a guy that's "like" the best coaches in football. Wow thanks for that great insight. Give us name, who do you think they should hire? Every GM wants a guy like those you stated, but who out there is that guy?

You guys must not follow along very well, when he says a guy like the best coaches around he is talking about himself.

Exactly the questions I would ask you buck...

And I would like the vikings to hire a coach LIKE Bill Walsh, John Madden or Vince Lombardi... Hows that for insight?

How many times do I have to say shaw or urban meyer for you moroons to comprehend it??

Shaw- "I am not leaving Stanford." aka. Nobody has offered me enough money.

Urban Meyer when he left FL - "I am done coaching and want to spend time with my family." aka Somebody somewhere else will give me what I want.

ok, I will switch back to Bevell then. The Chargers are hot at the right time and Cincy's QB didn't play great against a better defense. If the Chargers D plays that good they can beat the Broncos.

Gruden is good too. Either one is fine as long as Musgrave gets the boot too!

Is this Shaw guy that buck wants the same guy who ran the most idiotic play of the yr in college football on 4th down against michigan state? DOOKAY!

Good lord, next thing you know people are going to be asking to get Childress back.

That won't be happening anytime soon lol. The reason Bevell was the worst OC in the league while he was here was because Chilly called the plays, oh that and we had some guy by the name of Junkson.

Quote:

Bengals OC Jay Gruden will become the sixth head-coaching candidate to interview with the Vikings when he meets with GM Rick Spielman on Thursday.

The other five interviewees are Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell, Seahawks DC Dan Quinn, Cardinals DC Todd Bowles, ex-Browns DC Ray Horton, and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer. Casting a wide net, the Vikings have also requested interviews with 49ers OC Greg Roman, Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt, and Broncos OC Adam Gase and DC Jack Del Rio. There is no known favorite for the Vikings job.

I recently read a article that said Speilman, Frazier, Childress and Jay Gruden all have the same agent... So I guess we will see what happens. I don't remember what paper or web site it was on.

They were apparently blown away with Todd Bowles at his interview.

Cant imagine that was too hard to do considering what we have had for the last couple years. I would rather roll with a guy like this than Del Rio.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
