Congrats to the Packers. They probably have the best chance to represent our division in the playoffs this year, over any of the other teams in the division.

That said, go Niners!

NO Chicago broke thier own hearts when they stood on the field and thought the play was dead and a Packer picked it up and ran/walked into the end zone with thier coaches shouting at them to run wirth the ball.

Then close to the end of the game with 4th and 8, the safeties did not think GB would go deep so they stopped and the reciever went deep for a TD.

Chicago just plain and simple gave this one away.

Yes, GB win's the North, about the worst Div in football. They more than likely will not go far playing like they did yesterday.

Speaks volumes about the other teams in the division. How can they win it with their two best players missing significant time? (Rogers + Mathews)

Not an impressive team by any stretch, but hey! They won the division... The Vikings couldn't! The Bears didn't, and the Lions.... well they're the Lions!

Without a defense, I don't see them going anywhere in the playoffs, but then again... they did make the playoffs! Better than sitting at home watching your coaching staff get fired. Better to have a chip, chair and a chance, with a less than stellar teamm than to sit on the couch to watch your arch nemeciss team play in a 1st round home field playoff game.

As a Packer fan, I will admit that I am less than impressed with this current team, not even impressed with McCarthy (nice 4th and 1 run with Kuhn Mike!)but I have hope that Teddy boy will hit the draft hard and maybe even... *gulp* look into free agency, to shore up a horrible defense. Then they will hopefully handily win the division next year. Without the controversy of this year's division win.

Good Luck!

You and me both, the right free agent here and there sure wouldn't hurt and I'm not sure if they bring back Capers next year. Is it personel or coaching? Doesn't help that Mathews missed considerable time and they were without Jolly yesterday too.

Personnel. When they won the SB a few years back they had a pro-bowl caliber playmaker at every level (Jenkins-DE, Mathews-OLB, Woodson-CB, Collins-S), heck even Raji + Willams played really well that year. Now GB has Mathews and ???. Their high Def draft picks (Perry, Worthy + Jones) haven't worked out, so there is a lack of talent on that side of the ball. TT may be forced to sign a legit Free Agent for the first time since he sigend Woodson + Picket.

Coaches always take the heat and are not infallible, but the horses (players) pull the cart.

The inverse happened a few years ago when the NFC west had to send a division winner to the playoffs and they hosted a wildcard team with a much better record.

I too think the personeel is the bigger issue. Capers can stay or go, either way will not make this defense better without players with more talent. Our safety situation is laughable. Corners are all mediocre at best. Linebackers are so-so... with the exception of Matthews when/if he is healthy. Raji? Bye Bye. darn near worthless. We sorely miss Jolly! An unexpected bright spot on the D this year. Perry needs to perform this coming year or he needs to be gone also. He has only made little strides the past few years, but is another whom is always hurt. Not ready to lay judgement on Datone' Jones yet.

Good Luck!

The whole world saw the kind of team GB is without it's all world QB...simply terrible.

With that said, IMO, they have the chance at beating anybody at Lambeau with Rodgers back at the helm. Wouldn't suprise me at all to see them beat San Fran this weekend.

Even after being gifted home field advantage they couldn't pull it off. Not that anyone expected them to.

Nope... Not with that defense! But still waaaaay better than swirling in a toilet like the queens! But you're only 1QB, a coaching staff, a secondary, 3Lbs and a defensive line away from making a run in the playoffs. laugh

Good Luck!

I think you meant to say ONE stud MLB!!

Great effort by the Pack today. Just too many injuries to overcome. They will be right there again next year. Who knows, if they get that stud MLB they might just win it all next year.

I told my wife while watching the game that I was probably only one injury away from getting a call to come play defense.

I agree... Taking the Super Bowl runner up to the last play of the game is nicely done! I think they did better than anyone expected.... including myself.

Good luck!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
