Going down to the Vermilion tomorrow out of the boat launch off Ravenna trail.. Just wondering if I could get some suggestions on how to fish the area as

I have never ice fished a river. Is it worth it to make the trek down to North Lake or should a guy stay in the river? Any suggestions is helpful!

If you want to fish North Lake just pull right up to the access. Not sure how safe the ice is yet so not much else I can tell ya.

Do you or anyone know by chance what the depth of North Lake is? I went out on the river today and only managed two northern.

I haven't been out there for a few yrs but it's a shallow lake, probably 4-6 ft deep or so.

The deepest spot I've found is 9 ft. It probably averages 5.

Thanks guys, I couldn't believe all the views this thread had before someone replied. Apparently the average fisherman is as tight lipped as the fish. Might try north lake sometime in the next week or two depending on the temperatures. With it being so shallow I assume pan fish and northern are the main fish species?
