They have plowed roads and a lot of trails. Bring a shovel and tow strap just because there is some drifts.

Ok thanks for all the help. Does green have a pretty good night bite. In heading out soon but wondering I it's worth staying late or going to a different lake in the area after dark?

Green has a good night bite.

Just got in. I was fishing in about 22 fow and marking fish. I caught about half dozen and missed a few. The biggest was 12.5" and all the others were around 10". It was a very light but and took a lot of work to get them to take the bait.

Just got in from fishing. Caught about half dozen crappies and a Perch. Marked a ton but can't get them to bite! I was in about 24 fow and tried almost all my jigs and spoons on them, but couldn't get them to bite. After dark it got even worse. I didn't get anything once it was dark out and I was using glow colors. Any tips on fishing this lake at night? I didn't move depths because I was almost always marking fish just no takers.

10 feet to one side or the other could have made a huge difference. I was out with my cousin 3 weeks ago and there house was 10 feet from mine and they caught a bunch and in my house we caught one. He was in 28 feet I was in 26 feet. Seeing it looks like it is going to warm up some chasing fish should be much more doable. From my friends who have been laid off over the winter they said during he week has been better for them.

Anybody have a report on ann lake?

Posted

Last report I had was slow, but so are the rest right now, with this warmer weather and hopefully a little stability coming fishing should pick up on all the area lakes

Posted

Got to green at about 11:00 today and fishing was pretty good. I went to the main basin and caught maybe 10-15 crappies with a lot of Perch too. Then at about 4 I went to a different area just to get away from the crowd and it was one after another. Caught about 25-30 more crappies but had to leave at 5:00. All the crappies were over 9" most over 10". I was using a jigging spoon and minnow head just because it is heavy and I wasn't fishin in a shack today so it would pull out the frozen line. The fish were so aggressive away from the crowds I don't think it would have mattered what I had on.

Posted

22-24fow in the first spot but 26fow in the spot where they were very aggressive.

Anybody plow out there since this last blast of snow? Wonder how the lake is for getting around?

Posted

I was thinking about goin up there but that's a long ways for nothing if there isn't a plowed road. If anybody gets any info fill us in please.

Posted

there is some stuff plowed on area lakes, people are still trying to get ice houses off, so they are plowing to get them off, just please do not drill on top of a plowed road, it will end up flooding the road and ruining it for everyone

I wouldnt pull a house out... I am sure you can but why would you want to? this is perfect weather for hole hopping there is plenty of holes that are still open or easy to bust open running and gunning has been putting the fish on the ice there for me

"why would you pull out a house?" How about cause you want to sleep out there or you want to watch TV while you fish or cook a pizza while you fish or just because you have a $10,000 piece of equipment you want to utilize!!!!

I didn't mean to knock you or anything I was more getting at the (I was out there and hole hopping has been putting the fish on the ice) and bringing it may be more trouble than it is worth

Conditions are pretty bad out there if you bring your house I would not plan on going too far with it and you better have some meat and a good truck. There are roads but they are pretty rutted and there are a couple deep slush pockets. If you are careful I am sure a guy could get out there. Now after the snowfall though I am not too sure I will be out there this thurs or friday and I can give you another report if you would like.

I did make it out there last weekend with the house, like Zach said the road out from the access is pretty rutted up. It was an interesting pull out and off the lake. I do like to stay out on the lake, make pizza, get some more use out of the house and it also serves as a nice base camp to run and gun. I figure with my schedule that was the last chance for me to get it out on the lake. Next use for the house will be in fall for some bird hunting!!!!!!!

Zach- I hope I didn't come off as a mad in my response...I was just saying there are many reasons to want to take the house out in the next couple weeks if the ice holds up. To me nothing quite beats a sunrise on the lake with your line down and coffee and breakfast cooking and those things are easier if you can get out there with your house. You are right though that hole hopping is nice right now and it will produce more fish on average than sitting in the hard house.

Friday night headed out to green with lil ones and the wife. Fished to the right from landing if looking at the lake. Went around the point and found sone flooded trees and fished along side. Found some very nice sunfish using small leeches. Kids had fun and the wife caught some nice fish.

Is it still under a no wake zone. ?

I am wondering if anyone knows the current surface temp out on Green? Has anyone found any fall Walleyes lately? I am looking to head out to Green on Sunday for some Walleyes and possibly some Crappies if they are biting.

Posted

I was on green last weekend, but yelps were obviously higher then. No eyes, few pike, lots of tiny crappies.

Hit Green yesterday. surface temp was 51. put on some fat heads i got from st.francis bait. nice big fat heads they had. Tried fishing out deeper and on a place i have marked that comes up to the 24 range. out on the edges was getting bites, and was windy and i had a very hard time controlling the boat..it was like the first time out.. not sure what i had going on, if i could have controlled the boat better i feel my fishing day would have been much better! I was using a bottom bouncer with about 3' Snell tipped with a fat head. Did pull in 11" crappie out of the deep water. still holding off putting the boat away for a less windy day!

Anyone hear reports on ice conditions on Green?

Somebody has to have a report! Any ice?

Posted

I talked to a guy today at Thorne Brothers who was out there yesterday. Said there was 4 inches of ice.

Those flooding problems are a sign of your needle and seat are leaking.  If the needle has a ring around the tip you can clean it if it's brass. If it has a black rubber tip then it needs to be replaced. You can clean the needle and seat with things like rubbing compound or even toothpaste I use a product called Semi chrome. It for polishing die pins. Just clean them up after polishing.

All of those Polaris sleds from that era were notorious for flooding and leaking. I've still got a 2003 XCSP 600 Edge that my daughter rides. As you noted, you need to shut off the fuel in those situations.
    • SkunkedAgain
Yes, but it could make for an amazing walleye opener.

How old is your belt?   My old Polaris 4 wheeler with belt drive was bogging at mid range to top end last year.  Changed the belt and that problem went away.

Previous owner (22 years and 5,000 miles ago) said it was prone to flooding when sitting for a long time or trailering, so I shut the fuel off in both cases.   Primary is significantly worn.  I replaced several rollers and pins which helped.  I have two used clutches in much better condition that I could (and should) install.   It seems more like when I hit the throttle, but the bog could be from poor clutch shifting.  Will have to pay attention next time and inspect the clutches.  Thanks for the ideas.

Nope, he beat me fair and square, all his.  This weather had been depressing. As it sits now we are looking at a later than normal ice out. I hate scrabbling with docks, lifts, boats right before opener. Also limits some pre opener crappie chances.

👍 when/if i get drawn.....which i should know about june 1 we'll get in touch........both my kid and myself should get drawn.   and thanks.........with 6 preference points............i think are odds are pretty good.............there giving out 375 permits......and since we had yogi and booboo destroy my birdfeeders last spring......🙄

In those years Polaris was known to put buna tipped needles in there sleds. They get a ring around the seat and don't seal shut. But if that would be the case your problem would be with the motor shut off and filling the crankcase with gas. If your plugs are brown that is were they should be. I wouldn't drop that needle down to the last grove. I would replace them before I did that. I have never had a carb with that setting. Have you looked at your clutches? They could be dirty or have a bad roller.  Does it bog as it's accelerating or when you hit the throttle?
