OK, I'm all for it. Switch Haula and Brodziak. How can our defensive specialist be -3 in a game we had in the bag.

Agreed and he scored a goal and was still minus 3. Don't even play the guy, gotta have someone else that could fill that spot.

We can play well from behind but continue to falter with leads in clutch games against good opponents....lack of confidence or poor coaching? Shorten the bench, rotate them out faster and finish them off...don't put out the slackers and hope they just don't give up a goal...you are just asking for trouble...pour it on with your better players...figure it out!

Enjoyed whole game.

Hit, shoot, score, hit again, then some more.

Little bad blood an name calling come on man that's fun.

Add a little luck and hard work on both sides proves to be fun TV watch.

SOUND OFF of course.

Roy pulling the net'r with 3 min left.

"All IN" as he said later.

Simply great.

Pretty even match up most of game when all said an done way I saw it.

Av's really good on taking advantage of turn overs they create we know, but sometimes it looks like they are waiting for this to come to them an ease off. BURN!

Both teams messed up couple times when players got caught up in the "Do I play the position or the man?" type stuff that happens in split seconds.

Being 2 feet away from your man or the correct position burned both teams in at key times.

But that is how the games play out.

One small but really big thing is both teams need to remember is when clearing the puck it needs to be hammered hard as hard can be to get it out an the job done.

Lots of weak clears all game both sides cost both teams.

Little things mean a lot.

Moving very fast, real fast.

Both teams gave up a few bad plays but had them returned quick.

Roy line choices were fun to see also.

He has some guts an really knows his players an they trust him to the end it looks like from afar.

Enjoyed it all.

1st ten minutes Wild looked kind of like they did not expect the hitting would come only in first few minutes. Sort of waiting for it to go away.

Recovered an did pretty good dishing out hits also.

No blame really who did what or did not do what.

In games like this last break wins.

I did try to listen to Wes Walz after the game, geezzz he is boring to listen to.

Almost like he is building a resume for a coaching gig?

Should a,could a, I would a....when I played..bla bla bla.

Greenlayish mush.

#11 ~ great player yes, but needs to be and play a lot stronger an stop playing like a girl.

Waaaaaa!

Play angry an Wild can do some damage.

Lots of good in both teams game an some bad but all fun to watch.

Looking forward to game #2

Keep on rocken!

Haula on the 4th line creates an advantage for us. His goal proves that.

Had nothing to do with him being on the 4th line...caught them in a line change, long pass got behind them and his speed put him in position to score. Move him up and get him on the ice more!!!

Anyone know what the matchups were on Haula's goal? Was he out against the Avs 4th? In that case, yes he would have had the advantage. Haula is really not a 4th line player. Still, it would be nice to see him more than 10min a game. Besides, he seems to be willing to play the defensive role too. At that point, maybe he's not on the ice for 4 goals against mad

And why do we play so soft with an empty net. Yeo needs to be getting those guys amped up and playing physically to get the puck into the neutral zone and work over the redline then just start dumping into the offensive zone. Instead, we sit back and let COL come at us.

I only watch playoff hockey. That was a mistake last night. It was certain when Colorado tied the game we had zero chance.

What game were you watching bb?

We totally outplayed them on their home ice.

In the end 2 turnovers and briz the siv cost us the game.

The adjustments in the PP were awesome it actually looked like a pp.

Yeo totally out coached Roy last nite.

And as self proclaimed former player you how things go when a team has the lead. Nothing to do with coaching.

I don't get the slack that Yeo's getting. The Av's scored 2 goals in the 3rd on boneheaded turnovers. It's not like we just let the Av's walk into the zone the whole period, a lot of it was spent in the neutral zone.

One thing I don't get is Koivu accidentally falls into the net and gets a penalty, then why doesn't Johnson get one at the end there with the empty net? And why does the draw come out to the neutral zone?

Haula on the 4th line creates an advantage for us. His goal proves that.

I think a 4th line mismatch is great but at some point we have to say Haula is the better player and giving him more icetime makes us a better team. Kid has been huge down the stretch, 8 points in the past 8 games. Brodziak hasn't been the same player he was the first 3 seasons with the Wild.

Ice time, Brodz 19:59 - Haula 9:45. Yoe should be charged with treason! wink

Check out the replay, Koivu looked like a bonehead on that play, he was guilty. Johnson was racing for his life to save the game and did so with 8 or 10 inches to go. If only that puck had a little more steam or Johnson wasn't big kid with a long stick.

Buck, you overuse that pic...can you bring something else to the conversation?

Sure can.

THE WILD BLOW, and Yeo should have been fired about 10 hours ago!!

Looked like incidental contact to me. No way that gets called in OT. You need to murder someone, confess, then get the confession notarized to get a call in OT, especially in the playoffs.

BB - Don't feed the troll.

Incidental or not he took out 2 guys without the puck in front of the net. Cooke was in position to break that up had he not got bowled over.

Not trying to blame the refs, but that seems like obvious interference to me. Either way there's no way it should have gone to ot in the first place.

No talk of the phantom hook? I think the league would have impacted the game again had not the Wild given the game away on their own.

+1 getting the right players on the ice, over-playing crappy players, not telling players to be more aggressive when they pulled goalie.... Yeo is absolutely gutless and is not willing to take risks even when the reward is stealing a win on the road. Hopefully the players can overcome his poor decisions and pull this out...they are certainly capable.

So...because Yeo may or hopefully may have not yelled at his players who have played hockey since they were 5 years old, to be more aggressive with the goalie pulled... hes gutless?

Based on that along with other observations I'm taking you out of the equation to be the next wild coach.

Hmmmmm... grin

Yoe's fine, bb last nights game is not on him. You can't fumble the puck and give up 2 goals in the 3rd of a very winnable game on the road. Yoe could learn a thing or two from Roy about taking risks, but my only major issues is with his love of Brodz this season. He is keeping Heatley on the bench so there must be some brain cells up there.

So when Yeo switches brodz and haula will u be happy. I think he ll do it but not sure what effect it will have on things.

Little confused. Russo reported that Haula was practicing with Cooke and Nino and Brodzy went to 4th line, then he tweeted that there are no changes in the lines.

We'll see I guess.

Per Russo: Erik Haula centering Matt Cooke and Nino Niederreiter. Brodziak to fourth line with Veilleux and McCormick. #mnwild

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Aaaaaaaaaaaand Bartman beat me to it laugh

I agree for the most part Bear...but he could have told everyone to "push forward", put more pressure on their D and go get an empty netter to ice the game. Instead Pominville looked like a scared Squirt on that shot from the D instead of going out aggressively for the steal or block and others were just poke checking all over the place and that's on the coach IMO. Brodz is awful like we have been saying all year....hopefully that 4th line plays sparingly and I hope the Captains can rally the troops, man it would be great to get one in CO.

And that wasnt incidental contact on the winning goal that was a blatant deliberate cross check. Like Bear said you arnt getting that call in OT. Not sure it mattered either.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭
    • Rick G
Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
