A friend texted me the pic on Geiger's Facebook page. Broke through on the rear axel with the added weight of the wheel house. Not good.

There is no ice out there safe and thick enough for a truck and a castle.  Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.  And by the looks of it, with the warm weather coming, its not ever getting there this winter either.

Winter's over already, lasted about 10 days this year.

Get your boat ready for spring lol

The driver of that rig ventured off the main path - took a shortcut across a Rice bed from what I’ve see in other reports.

BAD idea, that the driver agrees with.  Says it was a dumb idea.

Adrians on LOW letting out 1/2 ton pickups with wheel houses up to 21 ft starting today.   3/4 ton and 1 ton pickups with nothing in tow. Their road goes 4 miles past Pine Island.

Highbanks on Winnie is allowing “at your own discretion” access.  Reporting 14-17 inches of ice on their roads.  Those roads will thicken a little by the weekend but I bet they’ll be busy.

this is a really really bad generalization.

You're right, it was a bad generalization.  I stand corrected.

All the people getting stranded, vehicles/ATVs going through, plus warm weather on the way sent "abort" signals.

Plenty busy out here and with some bigger rigs.

Had to get serious about slipping away from the crowd.  Had to move once already.

Nope. And there are 3 of us. I've fished this lake several times each summer in recent years,  first time I've set foot on it hard water.

It can be a tough bite in the summer.  And now I know  why. There's gotta be 300 million  3-4 inch perch in here 🤔
