I have a co-worker that has a place on Round. Until last summer, he hadn't caught any walleyes other than by accident. The bluegills are plentiful, but run small, crappies are decent size, but not abundant. There are other lakes in the area that might be worth trying. You wouldn't be too far from Many Point, Juggler, Tamarac, and Bad Medicine (if you would like to try trout). Look for a PM.

We have a place on Round. Bass fishing is good this time of year. You should find plenty of small sunnies around as well. Like Cicada said walleye fishing is so/so at best.

Are there any other lakes in this area that are good for walleye and larger panfish(sunnies or Crappie).also is there a guide that could be recommended.

If I were to pick one lake with combo eyes and pannies in that area it would be Tulaby without a doubt.

Rush can be good too. Nice pan fish, bass and pretty much anything else. Work the pencil reeds with slip bobbers in the afternoon/evening. Keep moving and casting until you find the mother lode

Tks.for the suggestions. How are they for water clarity? We found Potato lake last yr.to be extremly clear by park rapids and was tough fishing on sunny days, once we had overcast days the fishing got better. In July how deep do the eyes seem to be roaming in the suggested lakes, also do the sunnies and Crappie stage off the weeds on main lake points?

Just got home from fishing on Round Lake /stayed at Tamarak Resort. The panfish action was real good for the grandsons. The size of the sunnies was great, caught over 200 fish and only kept 60,fishing was good on the overcast days, but not so on the sunny days.We caught most fish on chartruese mighty mites in 8 ft.of water over on the big s.e point.water temp was at 83 degrees. Also caught a few small eyes, bass and perch, all released.Good luck! Also thermocline was at 23 ft. didnt mark many fish below in deeper water, seems like most fish were bedded on the weed line.

fak54, were you on another lake in the area catching crappies and talked to two big guys when the lightning chased you off the lake on Friday night?

If you live on the lake from what I have seen and heard they put the boasts ok n when nobody is at the ramp checking. So much for the great inspection, no decontamination after leaving the lake, that's a major issue I see. So far I have not seen any of the inspection crew at other lakes. Nobody on Constance, Buffalo or South ramp of Maple lake.

Has been pretty slow lately. One night you do decent then the next nothing. Very hit or miss.

Aren't there some great spots along the Mississippi south of the TC? I'm not familiar with that part of the state but it seems I've heard things.

      Is the night bite going?

I would surmise the slop bays across from the resort would be good for largies.  Crappies, next bay down from resort to the right of the point with the giant mansion on it.     Smallies, any rocky shoreline or rock pile, for example  Windsock Island and vicinity. Pike, various weedy areas mostly although I have never had much luck deep in the slop.      Maybe some of the folks who go the LOR will chime in.   At least you didn't ask where to catch walleye on the west end. 😊

Went out Walleye fishing Saturday night and I caught this beauty. Measured 45 1/4" and estimated weight of close to 30#'s. Fought it for over 40 minutes. Caught on 6 pound line with a #4 hook. What an epic battle.

Going for some largemouth on pike lake near duluth tomorrow if I could get some advice that would be nice. Never fished it before

So island was kind of a bust when I went a few weekends ago. It could be the fishermen or could be just bad fishing

I know all those areas well.  I'm a Parsippany~ish kid myself.  Traffic did suck when the commute was 40 one way- now just 5.5, all backroads. @Wanderer Hey for boat rentals a license isn't needed?  I have my NJ boat lisc, but doubt they'd honor it.... To ALL!  Thanks for all the replies and help here... sooo looking forward to the trip. I will  indeed look closer as the time draws nearer, and omg, I would love to be a boat buddy (we say boat b!tch), and consider this my "ask".. Thanks again fellas! Tight lines!   Mr Mayor
