I believe there is a somewhat official Mille Lacs Messenger "ice out" definition and formal recording but despite all the print about ice on Mille Lacs I don't see what the official date was. I want to remember, for posterity.

My Dad remembers fishing around ice chunks waaay back. He thinks was the 1940s or before. I know we broke the record ice out of May 15, 1950, but have not come across information of records dating back before. I imagine that perhaps walleye openers have changed over the decades too. Yet, some of the readers of this Forum may know more info.
