I just visited with Fortune Bay, and they do have rooms available in our block of rooms. If you are interested in staying here I would make your reservation soon. They are filling up fast, and the last two years were completely booked for our event.

Our field is over 1/2 full already. The entries continue to come in at a record pace. If you haven't sent your entry in yet I would try to get it in the mail soon to guarantee a spot.

We haven't made a decision on this yet, and hopefully won't have to. There has only been one ice-out date for Lake Vermilion later than our event. I would be surprised if there were still ice on the Lake for Opener. We will keep monitoring this as we get closer.

The warm weather is a welcome site here in the Northwoods. We are still monitoring the ice-out on Lake Vermilion as many of you are. We are still full steam ahead, and still planning for a full field. There are a few openings available if you haven't sent your entry in. Fortune Bay is filling up fast as well. I would get those rooms reserved if you haven't yet.

Man after looking out at the lake from the casino yesterday I dont see how that ice will be off the lake. Maybe have some big pockets of shallow bays open. I sure hope you guys do get some HOT weather and rain to get that ice out with out any flooding.

One year me and Cliff will have to give you guys a run for your money up there.

Too bad its the smae weekend as my Twin Ports Walleye Association tourney on the St. Louis River. That will be open but some lakes around here still have 34 or more inches.

If it works out we would enjoy having you guys in our event. I understand it is tough with your event the same weekend....... This past weekend helped the melting process to get going. The lake looks much different than it did Friday. Still a ways to go, but the melt is on. The Opener is going to be questionable, but I think we will be fine for our event. A little rain would be a welcome site for sure. I want to wish you the best for your event.

It appears this late Spring is finally giving way. We are on schedule for the event this weekend, and it looks like the remaining ice took a big hit yesterday. The forecast is favorable, and we are kicking it into high gear:) I am receiving calls to see if we still have availability, and currently we do. As of this morning we are at 83 boats. If you are still looking to enter I ask that you bring your completed entry to the rules meeting/dinner Friday evening. We will start checking folks in at 4:30, and dinner/rules meeting will follow at 6pm.

I am pleased to report 2013 was another successful year for the City Auto Glass Walleye Classic. We had 83 boats fish with us. The team of Ribich and Lubovich took home the $10,000 1st place prize. Thanks to all who fished, our sponsors, and volunteers. We couldn't have pulled this off without you!

I look forward to seeing you all in 2014 for the 9th annual City Auto Glass Walleye Classic!

Our Twin Ports Walleye Tourney went well too even though the weather was brutal. Chris Edquist and Chad Clough won with 8 fish measuring a total of 182.50". A 22.8" average is respectable. We finished 5th with 168.25".

I sure wish I could make it to the City Auto Glass Tourney. Maybe you guys could set yours back a week? LOL. I wouldnt want you guys to get iced out ever. wink

We're heading up tomorrow. Hoping for walleye but looking to mostly relax. We'll have leeches and minnows and any tips would be great. Just looking for enough for a good fish fry. Thanks in advance.

Caught a lot of small ones yesterday in 20 -30 ft.  A couple of eaters.  Minnows on Lindys clearly out fished the leeches on Lindys.

Kudos for doing this. I'm sure a lot of fishermen would not have.

I know it has been raining all week but anyone have any walleye reports?  Heading up for the holiday weekend and want to do some fishing.

Partyonpine, Would you be willing to share in what areas you were getting some nice Bluegills?  I am on the east end on big bay and would like to find some good panfish.

Opener and the week after were good.  Not the numbers we normally get but better quality in the East End.  Not surprised on the weights for the Auto City a.  Usually for us we only catch a few slot fish but we averaged 3 a day for 10 days.  2 overs, biggest 27 inches.     Our best luck was 12-16 feet for quality.  When we went deeper we caught more but smaller.  Bass were really starting to heat up.  For me little earlier than normal.  Found some nice Bluegills the day we went after some panfish.  Dock fishing was as many as we wanted per usual.

We will be up on June 8th for the week. It will be our 13th year in a row staying on the lake.  I hope the walleye are hitting the bobbers by the time that we get there.

Those are some fine specimens. Great job

I'm quite shocked to hear that a walleye tournament is still doing a live weigh in.  Virtually every event these days around here is doing a catch, photo, and release format.   Regardless, nice work.  Congrats.

On the south end...   A great week of fishing with walleyes and saugers caught in good numbers.   The go-to presentation, again, was a jig and frozen emerald shiner.  Emerald shiners are a staple in LOW and walleyes love them.  Other minnows worked also, but emerald shiners are a favorite of anglers for good reason.   The Lighthouse Gap area, Morris Point Gap and just in front of Pine Island held nice fish in 17 - 21' of water.  Various schools of walleyes and saugers across the south shore.     A quarter ounce jig in gold, glow white, pink, orange, chartreuse, or a combo of these colors tipped with a minnow worked well again.   Some big pike and jumbo perch being caught by walleye anglers. On the Rainy River...  Some nice walleyes were caught on the river this weekend, although most anglers normally head to the lake.  12 - 15' of water is holding some nice fish.   Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River is closed until the keep season starts up again July 1st. Up at the NW Angle...  Some nice walleyes being caught along with a mixed bag.  12 - 25 feet of water.  Points, neck down areas and bays with warming water were holding good fish this week.    The go-to presentation was a jig and minnow as on the south shore.  A mixed bag as is common around the Angle.
