Jordan or LeBron?

I think the Jordan/Kobe debate is beat to death and the generations that have seen both in their prime would not even see the argument. It's obviously Jordan, no doubt. I'm really interested in what the younger generations think about Jordan/LeBron. LeBron just went 13-14 tonight, which is very very impressive. ESPN flashed a chart up with the best FG % of all time and LeBron was on top and right below him were who you'd expect to see Bird, Magic, Kobe all with mid to low teen numbers with only 1 or 2 misses. And then there was Jordan at the bottom of the list with a 24 for 29 effort. By far the most impressive. Will there ever be a close second? Could LeBron have a feasible shot at the greatest ever? In my mind, no chance but I'd like to here your thoughts. List your age if you'd like. Me:32 yrs old.

I am sure there are going to be many with there opinions on who they think is the greatest, please share and why. Don't just type "pistol Pete." Validate it.

I wish I could have seen Jordan during his prime. I am 22, and never really got to see Jordan play before his first retirement. I've seen numerous highlight videos and what not, but it's no comparison to watching full seasons of him.

From almost everyone I've heard that has watched both of them play throughout their careers, they believe Jordan is the greatest. Whether that's just because he came along before Lebron, and to them he will always be the greatest no matter what, I don't know.

What Lebron has been doing is pretty dam good though. To me he's gotta be putting his name in the conversation with Jordan. Not only statistically, but how he can lock down opposing teams best players on the defensive end, how unselfish he can be with the basketball, how he has been wanting the ball and thriving in 4 quarters lately. If he can win a few more rings I think he'll put himself in the conversation. IMO Jordan will always be the gold standard to everyone in basketball no matter what Lebron does.

Jordan. See end of big playoff games. James can't handle the pressure and Jordan thrived under it. Big time players make big time plays in big time games. Jordan was cold blooded.

36 years old and watched Jordan from the beginning.

Jordan for now, but the gap is closing. Lebron wasn't good in crunch time, but he is getting a lot better and when he decides he's going to the basket it's either a bucket or foul.

took lebron half an all-star team to get a ring, micheal made his guys all-stars. ask portland how great scotty pippen was without jordan. lebron has at least 2" and 65lbs on jordan, and still has trouble tking over games. with that size the jordan would have had bill russel type rings. and this is from a bird guy.

Jordan had a killer instinct about him and took every game pretty serious...the dude could just ball. Jordan when there was blood in the water it was all over he was going to win. Lebron has already lost in the finals something Jordan never did. Granted it took Jordan a bit to get to the finals once he was there he won and continued to get there and win. Just think of the teams and players Jordan was playing against in the east compared to the teams Lebron plays against...Jordan had to go against Bird and the Celtics, Isaiah and the bad boys of Detroit, New York with Oakley and Ewing, Reggie and the Pacers...Lebron has what Paul Pierce and the Celtics?

Too early to judge. I like to think LeBron has what it takes, but it takes time to beat the best. Time will tell.

the playing style has changed since Jordan played too. When MJ played, they let a lot touch fouls go uncalled whereas today if Lebron goes to the basket it's automatically a foul. The NBA officials baby the stars now

"Like Mike, I wanna be like Mike" Jordan had his own McDonald's BBQ sauce not to mention people got beat up and had their Jordan shoes stolen.

I was a teen in the early 90's and Michael Jordan was the reason the NBA exploded in popularity. It was good with Bird, Magic, Thomas, but when Jordan showed up the NBA became great.

I'm old (39) so I'm bias as I watched Jordan as a teen. (Hijack) I also love Magic's game. I was ticked when he had HIV and couldn't play anymore. He played in that all star game and was the MVP I think. He hit the last shot. His shoot from the hip 3.

Jordan! To me it's not even close! I never liked him, and I hated chicago! But Lebron, although a great player, doesn't compare. Jordan is one of the best clutch players of all time...Lebron is basically the complete opposite. Jordan was also a much more reliable free throw shooter. And Jordan was a better defensive player...lead the league in steals several times I believe.

As was already mentioned, the NBA was a much more physical game when Jordan played too. Back in the 80's you could really lay into a guy going for a dunk in the paint...now if Lebron gets glanced with a pinky finger it's a flagrant foul whistle Once upon a time, referees used to call traveling too. Ever see some of Lebron's moves? He's taking 3 and 4 steps all the time (that's pretty much allowed all over the NBA).

If I had to pick 1 player to build a team around, I wouldn't even pick Lebron. I would probably want to build around Kevin Durant. He is a great clutch shooter also. And I also believe Kobe is a better player than Lebron too. But hey, Kobe or Jordan never won any championships without Phil Jackson eek So maybe if you threw Lebron with him, he would have more rings than fingers.

I here you on Durant but I would choose Melo over anybody in the league. He's got a bigger build and has a much better perimiter game. The only thing LeBron is better than Melo at is passing.

Ha! You guys are nuts. Lebron is by far the best all around player in the NBA. You'd be crazy not to pick him first if you were starting a team.

I would have to say that Lebron is the best all around player to. I'm not a big fan of him but he is something else when you watch him play. He could go one on one with anyone in the league and beat them.

Have you seen Melo play defense?

Me neither.

If you had the choice to select one player to build a team around: Lebron>>>>>>Melo

Yeah as much as I like Kevin Durant if I were to pick a current player to start a team it would be Lebron. He just has the best all round game in the NBA right now...

Carmelo??? Seriously???????? What has he done other that shoot the ball in his career? I don't think I would pick him in the top 5!!!

1. lebron,2. kd,3. D Rose,4. CP3, as much as I hate him 5. D Howard would round out my top 5 picks with Blake Griffin not far off that list...

Jordan, not even close. Lebron needs an all star team to win a championship. Had he stayed in Cleveland and won a championship there I think it would be a different story.

Yep, would have never saw Jordan make a move like that. I used to love watching pro ball now its just a bunch of spoiled brats. I still watch a bit but not like I used to.

That's the problem picking then and now, then no cell phones,no internet, etc. Now we get the good bad and ugly. I'd take Jordan because I think the league cared a bit more then, these guys are too buddy like at times, I think I just miss that era where athletics were a bit more pure, rarely heard the word steroids, etc. we just get bombarded with everything today. Players are machines specializing in their sport today, wasn't quite as much back then, heck Jordan clubbed the baseball even. lol tried to.

...the touch fouls weren't called when jordan was playing defense; however, I always felt bad for the guy who guarded him because if the guy so much as looked at michael wrong, there was going to be a foul called. that being said, I'd still vote for jordan based on his success in the playoffs. I do think the nba is about the worst sport as far as giving breaks to certain teams and players but it is what it is.

Ha he shut him down in a game that no one else tries in cant really use that to compare anything. You really cant compare these two, your talking about a 6-9 265 pound SF and a 6-6 220 SG if they played one on one Lebron would back him down in the post and use his size and strength to dominate does that mean hes the best ever hardly, does Jordans 6 rings mean hes the best no. They are the best players of there generations hands down just like Wilt was the best players of his generation, if you look at how the game has evolved, adding the 3 point line, adding zone defenses, how they call fouls now compared to Jordans era where you could have your hands all over a person its just way to hard to really "compare" them and say this person is the best ever.

basically you made another point for Jordan though with the hands being used in defense...Jordan always was hand checked and Lebron has free range.

Nobody also wants to get rejected regardless of the circumstances. Jordan had role players LeBron has all stars and Jordan did much more to make everybody around him better. Yeah, yeah, go ahead and talk about his 8 dimes in the 4th quarter the other day but the truth is Jordan dominated whereas the Heat dominate, not just LeBron.

with all this said they should really have a one-on-one showcase during the summer. Put it on ESPN or one of the networks and it would be big time. Everybody always talks about who could take who, well this would be a great idea. Kobe vs LeBron, Rose vs CP3, D.Howard vs his back... It'd be great for the sport and sponsors would chop at the bit.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
