Fishing yesterday into today has picked up. The dead stick with chubs seems to be the best producer. 7-8 miles out in 33' of water is the best area. We do now have a branch of our road plowed towards Pine Island out to 20' of water, for those that want to try over there.

Over a 24 hour period we are expecting a 60 degree temperature change. So hold on tight as this change might take us for a wild ride.

Thanks for fishing with Cyrus and good luck!

We fished with you on Sunday out of portables. We had lots of tullibee action in 33' with an occasional keeper walleye in front of the crack. We were hoping to get deeper but obviously it wasn't safe for that.

We finished the day shallow off pine island. We were in 16 ft and caught TONS of cigar sized eyes. I think we kept 4 and had no slot fish. We also got a nice 35" northern.

Overall, it was nice to have that much action and it sounds like we did better than most.

Thank you to those that were with us over the past weekend. We at Cyrus do our best to keep the customers happy but this was beyond our control. We had 1" of rain followed by snow and strong winds overnight Friday. It took most of Saturday and Sunday to dig everything out and get the road back up to our standards. Many people didn't get to their fish houses until much later than planned. We apologize for any inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience!

We have our road out about 9 miles now and about 34' of water. There are 2 wheel house roads off that and one road that goes over by pine island. The pine island road is out to about 24' of water.

Fishing has been off and on over the last few days. Morning and evening are the best bite times. Dead sticks with a live minnow are still producing the best results.

Thanks again for your patience. Stay safe and happy fishing!

Roger , I talked to Steve today about my upcoming trip in march, but I for got to ask him about the reef prices if we have full 3 nt /2 day pkgs with meals already.. any chance you could find that out, or is it still an extra 110. p/p?

If you are staying with us on a package plan the additional cost for reef fishing is $30 per person per day. It is on a first request first serve basis, so be sure to let us know if you want to head to the reefs!

Was up using Cyrus's road January 23-27th and they did a very good job on the road, we were very pleased with the service and friendly atmoshpere Cyrus has to offer we will be back again this upcoming weekend and definitely using there road again. Fishing was ok for us we were very happy with the quality of fish we caught but catching fish for the bucket was not easy, we did end up with a lot of tulibee for the smoker, we were in 34-35 fow for our two houses jigging out performed deadstick 3-1 and electronics were a must!

Cyrus road will only be maintained out to 6 miles past the crossing. We are finding the best action at 4-5 miles out. We have a wheel house road at about 5 miles and another that goest east towards Pine Island.

Don't forget we now have houses up by Garden Island. Call today to book your spot, space is limited!

That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!
    • gimruis
I agree on the choices.   I didn't mean to say that a battery auger was better or greener or whatever.  I could care less about that.   It just seems that "most" ice anglers have made a switch to a battery auger in recent years.  That's all I was saying.  I know about a dozen people who regularly ice fish and they all have battery augers now.  I bet if you conducted a survey of all ice anglers, the majority would answer that they use a battery powered auger.
