St. Croix rods

Lunker

Question

Well, I was fishing the LETS tourney on prior today, and was casting a lipless along a point. My lure ticks the weeds, and gets caught on a weed, so, as always, I pull, not very hard, and snap! My favorite rod, my st. croix med act spinner snaps in two after only seeing 2 fishing seasons. Whats the deal with that? Aren't these supposed to be high quality? And of course, I no longer have the receipt from galyans. Dam.

St. Croix rods are very high quality and shouldn't break that easy. What you need to do is contact St. Croix. Look for their phone number on their website. If you send it to them they will replace it for a nominal fee.

Welcome to the world of high end fishing rods. Higher modulus (more expesive) graphite tends to be more brittle, thus more breakage, even from a nick that may have happened earlier that you never even knew happened. Keep your reciepts, althoug hmost dealers don't do warrenty replacment, it's good to have for warrenty info. Expect to send rods in for replacment/service. I have 4 or 5 st. croix's that get fished hard and not babied, several have been back to st. croix more than once. !0 bucks and a couple of weeks should see the rod back in your hands, I've always had excellent results with thier service dept. On the plus side, you get to fish with a much nicer piece of equipment, and the down time should help you convince your wife that you need another for backup.

Yea, called them this morning, gonna send it in with 10 bucks and get a new top half(2 piece rod) They are nice, and I really like the rod, but it was startling and frustrating when it snapped.
