Southeastern MN grouse hunting

Has or does anyone hunt grouse in south eastern mn? I live in south centeral and do not have a time to go north this year. have new puppy and need to get in woods. Also new to this sport. Any help is welcome thanks all and happy hunting.

don't think they've got grouse down there. If they do, not very many.

Pheasants though!

Yes they are I have buddy that see them when deer hunting. No pheasant around farmers turn all fields black.

In the about 8 times that I have Turkey hunted down in the SE corner I have only maybe kicked up about 5 birds. Having a dog may help a lot.

Theres some grouse in SE MN not a ton though. But you should be able to find a few. Check our White Water State Forest. Sorry I can't point you to any good areas though.

As stated previously, there are some around if you work at it. I hunt in SE MN and over the past few years, the #'s definately have been on the down swing.
