Sorry guys, should have clarified a bit. It is just a tree. The tree is right next to my deer stand and this buck had it all tore up.

Non-hero entry #1...

This 7 pointer bedded down in front of me for a couple hours this afternoon. Once he got comfortable we proceeded to have a little photo shoot. This is one of the more unique shots I took with the camera lens up against the rangefinder.

Good stuff guys! The rangefinder one is very creative. Here's a couple of the pics you guys told me to post smile Solo shots with a normal camera and the timer button

I'll have to bring the camera with and try to get a non-hero shot of somethin wink

Non hero shot #1. Took this photo of a redtail hawk on Thursday morning from my ground blind. Tried to get him sitting in the tree but he took off.

B-man uve had a year for sure I think you would be a entry for MVP hunting this season.

It ain't over yet baby laugh Still have MN rifle season and WI rifle season to have a crack at two more bucks............

But Mamma said to knock it off, or I'll have to get a second job to pay the taxidermist next fall grin

All joking aside, I consider myself very fortunate for everyday in the woods, and I am very thankful for all of the critters that have provided so much excitement and sustenance.

I am also very thankful for all of my friends; at home, and you guys online as well smile

A few days ago I brought up the idea of doing a hunt swap, because I'm new to the state and was looking for a place to hunt for the gun opener this weekend.

Jerkin'm (aka Patrick, a long time member here) took me up on the offer.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to be invited to hunt with him. Two complete strangers, brought together by the common bonds of hunting, and this website.

Meeting up with him in the morning in Ottertail county to chase some whitetails! Thanks a trillion Pat!

Good luck to all of you guys this weekend! Get a big one and stay safe smile

Thanks Nels! For the record... I edited out a brick on the left side of the picture and darkened the edges... other than that, the photo is all original. Both foreground and background are real and nearby where he shot the deer.

      That’s right. My 84 year old dad loves his electric chain saw. Light weight and quiet. Besides, at his age he’s not cutting a bunch. Where as myself I want something with more power and heavier duty.  Look at how many people have switched back to gasoline cars after running one in winter if you travel a lot.   As long as my strike master works I’ll keep using gas. Maybe my next will be electric, but who knows,  you can find used gas ones pretty reasonable as others buy electric.

      I think electric items have their places, I just don't think large commercial jobs are going to be able to work well with them. Can't see a logging crew out in the woods all day changing batteries!

      I agree on the choices.   I didn't mean to say that a battery auger was better or greener or whatever.  I could care less about that.   It just seems that "most" ice anglers have made a switch to a battery auger in recent years.  That's all I was saying.  I know about a dozen people who regularly ice fish and they all have battery augers now.  I bet if you conducted a survey of all ice anglers, the majority would answer that they use a battery powered auger.
