Water Levels & Weed Growth

Recommended Posts

Just looking for some insight as to how the water levels are doing around the area and with the warmer weather this summer how is the weed growth doing? How deep is everyone seeing weeds so far?

Is there a specific lake you are wondering about?

The water levels are still high on the lakes, however they have dropped a foot or more on many lakes. With all the particulate matter that washed into the lakes, many lakes are still turbid and the clarity is in some cases half the normal clarity (secchi disc). Given the higher water and lower clarity light penetration is lower than it was early season and some weeds my be dying off or severely stressed at the deeper edges. This makes for lower oxygen levels in some of the lakes. Some lakes are showing water temps up into the 80's. I haven't been in my boat in a while due to dealing with storm damage so I can't tell you weed depths and they would be dependant on lakes and clarity.

Not an exact answer to your question, but I hope it helps....

Whitefish are dying on Inguadona and there are floating weeds all over the place. Water is still way up and has only gone down about 6 -8 inches from peak. Surface temps around 81 and the fishing isn't good. Water is bog stained brown from the runoff.

Thanks for the insight. We will be spending most of our time on Baby and Man Lakes, which typically are rather clear waters with plenty of weed growth. It sounds like fishing has been interesting this summer with the weather.
