Renting a spot on the ice

Recommended Posts

I nalso think it should be how many times you use their landing not how many days your on the ice.

Believe me I spend money at these places to support them. I buy more in tackle at them than most pay for their drinks/meals. "Hi Im Northlander and Im a jigaholic". grin

If Im on and off the lake daily I of course get a new pass daily. This past weekend I spent my $20 to go out 2 days on long point even though I knew I would only be out a few hours each time. Could the roads have been plowed a bit better? Probably but I still was able to follow their staked roads well enough to get over the bridged crack and to my spots.

Twisted don't be a cheapskate, if you went up 1 night and a storm blew in good luck getting out of a public acces. How much would that cost ya to get plowed out? Zippel Bay charges 20$ for a weekend pass, I was happy with that. From now on go out your public access and let me know how that goes and quit your whining.

Ya Twisted, take that! I too would like to see you try and get one of your bombers to navigate that lake if it snowed. LMAO!

Water off of the ducks back for the twisted one, he's a toughian!

He's got a duece and a half with a vplow too so I reckon he'd plow his way off after the storm and just laugh at the fuel bill!

You must not have pics of my other track rigs?

I laugh & still pay the resorts. The other fools that want to belittle me can pass up my offer to help them out when they get in a pinch & wait for someone else.

I'm just up to have a good time. I love being up on that lake & have helped a lot of people out of jams & never asked for compensation. The ones who have gave me a few bucks, Thank you very much.

I'l still pay for my access & drinks/food/gas like I always have.

Spicoli & ND can stay on the leash for now......

Stand up boy, you're trippin' over your own feet. Now you stay away from worms and I'll stay away from mice. That's fair and square, and if you'd stop all your arguin' and jawin', you'd see my side of it!

Yap-yap-yap, keep that mouth flappin' and do no listenin'

There's nothin' worse than a blabber-mouth cat!

No sorry, I don't have any lots out on the lake for sale, or rent....but over on this end we understand that once you are out on the ice, you are on public property and can stay as long as you would like. All we ask is that if you use a private access, you pay your access fee.

I do have a new plan though and it should be a money maker. I am going to build some hunting stands on state land next fall, and rent them out. Now that I know there are some that would accept a private citizen staking claim to public property it should go over real well. Oh I better not catch anyone out huting on that public land without renting a spot from me either, OR ELSE.

Yes I know that sounds stupid, but hey, if the shoe fits.

Actually I don't think Twisted was wondering if I had any shore line property for sale. I believe he was asking if he could buy a spot out on the water, which is what triggered his initial post.

Spicoli, since your thinking out loud, just think how much money you can make if you use this logic on your trailer filled with fish; you could charge people to enter to fish and than charge them to leave, probably even charge them more if they don't catch anything! Heck I bet Boar could make a fortune at his Minnow Day care doing the same thing. By the way Twisted, do you run the same amount of PSI in your tracks on both those rigs? Northern Dave, My dimmer switch is acting up on my diesel auger again, any advice. Hang on boys, this is gonna get fun!

P.S. Does anyone have a GPS, I'm lost, I'm trying to find my way to the "technical questions" thread and if I find it, will I need an auger extension?

I may have solved the dilema. I'm selling a couple of the track sheens & getting a hovercraft. That way I won't actually be touching the ice & won't need to rent a spot out there.

Do you see any hang-ups with this plan? Anybody?

now if you mounted a sleeper on the hover craft, then I think ur ok, an u could probabley use resort access without paying cause technicly ur not crossing their land...... well ur crossing their land but not on it, Dang it u'll have to rent airspace, so much for that idea.

Even if you just stay home, you should probably buy a pass for the whole weekend. Because your thoughts will be out on that ice.

And what would happen if it snowed out there and your thoughts got snowed in?

You'll feel pretty stupid when you have to call from home to have someone go out there and rescue your snowed in thoughts.

I bet your thoughts are out there right now aren't they?

I'll tell you what I'll do...

You tell me how long you plan on daydreaming about being out there and I'll write you a pass for that length of time.

I'll keep you safe out there.

How's a dollar a day sound?

You're right boar. I wouldn't want to have to pay lake access, ice rental, & airspace rental. Plus all the shenanigans with the FAA.

I'll just scratch the hovercraft idea. The track sheenery isn't for sale anymore.

How do you guys that fly planes up there do it?

Twisted, it's just as well you gave up the hovercraft idea, I think you would have been fine until you touched the auger on the ice, then the road pass police would have gotten you for trespassing. Although, hook a hose up to the auger exhaust and point it towards the ice and maybe you could have melted holes to fish through with out making any contact? This sure takes a lot of thinking.....

How about all the wheel house owners gather their $10 daily fees for the season & buy a 12 foot wide piece of land for access?

Good Idea. I think awhile back someone plowed a road from the public access on Mille Lacs and connected it to an resort's road.
