Ice conditions on the st criox around prescott??

Recommended Posts

Drove by there on Monday and there were 3 portables out there. One stupid enough to put his/her shack between two portions of open water: the main channel under the bridges to the south and a small little stretch about 50 yards north where ducks and geese were. could not believe it!!

I would guess the ice should be pretty decent now that we have had a few cold days...

I was out there a couple days ago. Only for a few hours though the wind gusts coupled with the cold weather were making the ice talk too frequently to make me feel comfortable so I left. I don't have a spud bar so I drilled holes every twenty to fifty feet. I found two spots with two inches of ice (closer to shore where I'm sure the current eroded it) the rest was right around five or six. I also heard from a local at the Prescott BP that someone had a portable go in pretty close to the open water... Use common sense and go with a friend, I'm sure you'll be fine!

haven't found more than 12" of ice yet, and quite a bit less out in the current by the bridge. people are driving out cars and trucks staying closer to shore. saw a quad cab dodge yesterday post up next to shore 30' from the access.... Felt bad for the guy when I saw his front right tire went through blush . drive at your own risk!! I've been fishing for the past couple days and it's been dead out there. I've talked to other groups of fisherman and they all say the same thing, every bodies wondering where the fish are at. good luck to you!
