How's the ice out on the east side? I want to take my little fishing partner out, just wondering if it will be alright to drive.

Good day!

Obviosuly I can't say it's safe...We went out off of Flickabirds on Saturday afternoon. Many trucks out there, I measured 15" of pretty solid ice all over- no snow. I drilled holes on my way out just to be sure.

they are drivin all over east. West too so I hear. Was out on East last night, but was slow. Didn't feel like movin round, so I pulled 6 crapps and no eyes. 1 crappie was 10-1/2" but the others were 6-7" and I did get a lil guy about 4-1/2". I was set up for eyes. Good size fathead on a DS, and minnow head on a large glow spoon. These crappies must be a lil aggressive, they all hit good and it is an awfully wide-gap treble hook on that spoon. They were taking it in pretty far too. To take that dead stick fathead and run like they did kept me thinking..."theres my dinner bite". NOPE! fished in 18 fow and caught them all at 4-5 ft off bottom. Always giving it a fresh glow got the most active results. Would've moved around for the eyes but no heater...thus no motivation. 15" of good ice. Bait shop said it's that way all over East.
