Crow Wing Chain Trip Coming up-

Recommended Posts

Heading up to PR to do some fishin on the crow wing chain in early feb (wish it could be ealier). If everything goes well, I want to focus on Six. I have read reports that people are driving trucks on some lakes up there, but nothing on the crow wing chain. I would not even concern my self with it except the fact they are a flowage. Any thoughts on that would be great. I would assume that nobody drives near the lake outlets and inlets. I have fished that chain a fair amout but only in open water. I would very much appreciate it if someone could PM me who is familiar with the winter fishing scene that I could bounce a few ideas off of.

Thanks

Should be fine to drive on, just stay away from the inlet and outlet. I know it's a popular panfish lake with lots of houses, but I've never ice fished there. Last year a couple teenagers (I think) went through on fifth because they ran into open water in the snow, so be careful.

I was on Third over News Year. At that time, there was 8-10 inches of clear ice and people were driving four wheelers.(not by the inlets or outlets)

Shouldn't have a problem driving but use caution as always. Just read/heard about someone putting their tires in on Potato. Haven't heard much on sixth but I guess some of the other crow wings have been producing some decent panfish action. I'm going to try out first this weekend and maybe jump around to some others if I have time.
