Even in the winter its green with lots of nasty stuff that floats up into your hole sick. Second worst lake in the area for water quality(Meyhew is the worst)I personaly would not eat the fish out of there.

Little rock does have a healthy population of naturaly reproducing walleyes and some decent size crappies so it can be an intresting lake to fish.

I have been out a fair amount this year. The walleyes tend to be decent size 15"-17". I try to get away from the packs though. There are a few spots that have not been drilled yet. The big part of lake in 15'. I cant speak for the crappies. The walleyes sure like rosies red minnows!city

I'm out there Every Sat. Sun. Morning and night! Some of the better fishing i can count on! People say "I'd wouldn't eat the fish outta there" Well that's fine with me. Where do you think the Nice Walleyes come from that lake???? Yep the Mississippi River. Anyway, Keep you sticks down!! Did anyone see that house that fell threw prob like wed-thurs last week. Last weekend it was about half in and half out of the ice?

Yeah I think I seen that same house. Made me feel sketchy about consistent ice, was wondering what ice thickness people have been finding. What time of day is the best fishing.

There are great fish in the lake, but you have to do some sorting for the crappies. There are some real nice walleyes in there, too, but I'm always hit or miss with them. Some years I've done real well....other years, no so much, and I can't figure out why. But it's close to home and sure for some action, so I like heading out there now and then.

I am out there from 630-10am for crappies and from 4-630pm, Nice crappies at night 11-13" few in between. Walleye only bite for about an hour!! I use a Clam Scout or a Clam Explorer. Come on over.

I was out on Little Rock this evening from 4:30 to 7:00. Only caught two walleyes but very nice size. 1 22" and 1 26" both C & R. Lots of trucks driving out, be cautious though, one house fell in last week and I only had 12 inches where I was located. Happy Fishing!

Good nice to hear, Where you near the 9-10' Flat? If you don't mind me asking? There was about 10-15 houses there last sunday.

I was a little further north. Tried to get away from all the people. I did talk to one guy in that group of houses and he didn't get anything. Also saw the local CO and he said there were some guys a little further north that had kept some bigger perch (i've never caught one out there more than 5 inches :S)

pretty slow on the slabs all year, not even close to the fishing success last year. screwed up ice and mobility didn't help though.

I heard the crappies were biting good out there earlier in the year. I havnt heard anything in a while though. I have gave it some thought about heading out there to try it out. But like many others, I wouldnt eat fish out of there. That lake has ALWAYS been nasty and all the chemicals and crapped they dumped into there the past 7-8 years... No thanks. (I wont eat fish outta the Mississippi either though).

As far as I know, the bite is usually pretty consistent out there on late ice...especially if you can find the good spots. There are a few nice crappies in the lake, but the VAST majority are too small for me to keep. Add in to that the leaking septic tanks, and I'm not all that interested except for some fun action on small crappies on light line...with the occasional largemouth or walley mixed in. Fun lake for kids, but there are better ones around.

Have not been out there but if it's like some of the other lakes in the area you might need waders to get out to good ice after today.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
